'So You Think You Can Dance' First Episode Review: This Is Epic!

    And it's just the beginning!

Internationally acclaimed dance reality show , 'So You Think You Can Dance' premiered its first episode on 24th April and it gave us the idea that this show is definitely going to be of epic proportions. Aired on & TV and produced by Endemol Shine India, this show's first episode showed the snippets from various auditions held in different parts of the country,

This was not just it, we got to know all about the format of the show and the details of the teams and how things are going to progress.

So the competition is divided amongst two groups- Street and Stage. Where Street Dancing represents forms like Tutting, Hip Hop, B Boying, the Stage Dancing represents forms like Jazz, Latin, Indian Classical et cetera. The panel of judges is very wisely chosen where Terence Lewis is representing the Stage Dancing Form and Bosco Martis is representing the Street Form of Dancing. Madhuri is the judge of critical importance as she has been trained in Kathak for years but also finds equal dedication towards the street style. The auditions would lead to the selection of 20 people with Golden Cards, 10 for the Stage team and 10 for the Street team.  Then, the fight would become critical and of crucial levels.

    Dancing, passion, perfection!

The sneak-peek into the auditions in the first episode showed that the talent pool in this show is an all time high. Dancers performed Hip- Hop, Tutting, Kathak and many other forms which left the judges pleasantly surprised. Where the audience saw Latin dancing on London thumakda, they also saw a mind-numbing performance by 19-year old Kalpita Kachroo on Mohe Rang Do Laal which left the Judges with goosebumps. In fact, she was so good that Madhuri joined her on stage. Contestants like Ratul Chatterjee, Juhi Vaidya and others received the Golden ticket. The performances were really impressive, in fact so much, that anyone on the average level could not get past this stage.

Witty hosts, wonderful chemistry, Love, and Rivalry!

The chemistry between the hosts of the show, Mouni Roy and Ritwick Dhanjani, was absolutely amazing. They were brilliantly synced, very articulate and downright hilarious as we could glean from their appearances between the auditions. Where Ritwick is representing the Street Team, Mouni is representing the Stage team. Tiger Shroff also came to the auditions and performed with the contestants.

So You Think You Can Dance is definitely going to live up to its name as we can easily assume from the auditions. As the road gets tougher for the contestants and they are presented with bigger challenges, India is excitedly waiting for its next dancing Superstar because,

    Ab hai India ki Baari!
