Our idiot boxes are perhaps our only saviour in times of despair. Whether we're stressed or worn out, we turn to our Television sets, and hope to find some entertaining relief. But, when you witness illogical shows, with a non existent story and embarassing jokes running for centuries and ruling the TRP charts, you can't help but question your intelligence!
However, that doesn't mean that Indian Television isn't churning out quality shows. Unfortunately, at times they fail to find their audience. But if we want the makers to come out with more rich content, you gotta open your eyes and give them a chance! Have a look at these five upcoming shows on TV which seem promising enough to have you hooked:
KAVACH
After Naagin, Ekta Kapoor is back with yet another supernatural show, 'Kavach'! The show has 'Yeh Hai Mohabbatein' fame Vivek Dahiya as the male lead and Mona Singh as the female protagonist. The 'Nayee Padosan' fame Maheck Chahal makes her TV fictional debut and will be seen playing the parallel lead. 'Kavach' which will replace 'Naagin' focuses on romance and horror and the promo has been grabbing eyeballs from everywhere, already!
WAARIS
&TV's upcoming show 'Waaris' will encounter TV actress Aarti Singh making her comeback after a span of 4 years. The first rockstar of the small screen, Iqbal Khan will play a pivotal role in the show for which he is sporting a buzz cut as well, these days. The show focuses on the relationship between a mother and her child. The story revolves around a secret that the mother has kept hidden as her child, who was born a girl has been disguised as a boy in front of the world!
SHAKTI
Television's handsome hunk, Vivian Dsena is making his comeback opposite Rubina Dilaik in Colors' 'Shakti'! Earlier titled as 'Gurdaspur', the show is set in the backdrop of Punjab and revolves around two sisters. A love story engulfs the narrative amidst the proceedings. The promo has been generating a lot of curosity among fans and Rubina claims to have a kickass and never-attempted-before role in the show!
KANKAR
Zee's Zindagi has been widely showcasing diverse content on its channel and has been taking a step towards breaking stereotypes and addressing social issues with the shows. One such upcoming show is 'Kankar' which is based on domestic violence. The show traces the emotional and disturbing struggle of a woman who's ill-treated and beaten up by her husband. How she raises her voice and stands against the injustice forms the core of 'Kankar'!
SATYA KI KIRAN
Television's angry young man aka Barun Sobti of the 'Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon' fame became an overnight star with his portrayal of the brooding Arnav Singh Raizada. After trying his luck on the big screen, he's coming back to the small screen with a finite series. The show, titled as 'Satya Ki Kiran' will see Barun playing a cop, a character very different to his romantic avatars. Though the promo of the show is yet to hit the TV screens, the on-set pictures have been generating a lot of interest!
