    5 Times Bollywood Took Up The Cause of AIDS!

    Bollywood has given us pleasant surprises when we have least expected them!

    AIDS is a topic which is still a taboo in our society. People assume that it is only related to unprotected physical intimacy or having multiple sexual partners whereas there are ample of ways through which it could spread too. However, not many sources of information tell people that it is okay to have HIV and still live a normal life. These days, everything is possible.  Sadly, this has not been the case with our society and people.

    But Bollywood had set an example time and again with such offbeat films which have won critical acclaim all over.  

    On this World AIDS day on 1st December, here are 5 such films which make us more aware about AIDS.

    1. Phir Milenge! (2004)

    This film redefined the issue of AIDS and helped raise awareness about this ignored topic. Starring Abhishek Bachchan. Salman Khan and Shilpa Shetty, this film was critically acclaimed across the country.

    2. My Brother Nikhil! (2005)

    Starring Juhi Chawla, Sanjay Suri and Purab Kohli, this film became one of the most talked about in the national and interanational circles. It debunked various myths surrounding AIDS and how to deal with it once contracted. 

    3. Nidaan! (2000)

    Directed by Mahesh Manjrekar, this film tells the life story of a girl who accidentally gets infected from HIV during a blood transfusion. This film was delcared tax- free by the Indian government.

    4. 68 Pages! (2007)

    This film is relatively unknown in Bollywood circles, but it shows a touching story of an HIV/AIDS counselor and her five patients. This won international acclaims and even though having a restricted budget, it made ripples everywhere.

    5. Positive! (2015)

    This is one of the four amazing films made to create awareness about HIV/AIDS. Farhan Akhtar has directed this film to depict the devastation that befalls a family when AIDS hits their youngest child.
