6 Bollywood Stars Who Were Abandoned By Their Families

Bollywood is a strange place to be. While in the peak of career, one enjoys so much attention and fan base. In fact, some people even worship them! But there are times when a star dwindles back to the periphery and becomes severely sidelined. So many Bollywood stalwarts have been forgotten, not only by the audience but sometimes even by their family! While this is really heart-wrenching, it is also very much true in the world of glamour.

1. Geeta Kapoor

The actress, who mainly worked as a junior artist and has been seen in films like Pakeezah, was recently abandoned by her son in Goregaon’s SRV hospital. Apparently her son, Raju had admitted her to the hospital after her blood pressure started falling. Then on the pretext of finding an ATM, he abandoned her.

The yesteryear actress also confessed that her son used to physically abuse her and would serve her food once in four days. Even attempts to contact her daughter Pooja failed, She is now been taken care of by producer Ramesh Taurani and Ashoke Pandit.

2. Achala Sachdev

The actress who was been part of over 130 movies was completely ignored by her family during her last days. She was philanthropic and had given away most of her property. But when she broke her femur in old age and was admitted to a hospital in Puna with paralysis, neither her US based son Jyotin nor her Mumbai based daughter visited her. She died in anonymity.

3. Vimi

Vimi was seen in movies like Humraaz dies a painful death. She was supported by her husband, but after their separation, the number of offers started to decline.In 1977, she suffered liver infections and was admitted to Nanavati Hospital’s general ward. Despite having two children, she died lonely and was carried to the cremation ground in a tea seller’s ‘thela’!

4. Neeraj Vora

Though we can’t say in strict terms that he was abandoned by his family, because all the members had already passed away, he was not taken care of by his extended family members after he slipped to coma in October 19, 2016. He has now regained consciousness and is been taken care by friend Firoz Nadiadwala. He is also currently residing with him!

5. Nalini Jayawant

The actress belonged to the same family as Nutan and Tanuja. She was their aunt. She had done many films, the most prominent one being ‘Behen. She lived her last days alone without her family. Her dead body was discovered 3 days after her death and some random man claimed her body! In fact her family too did not visit her after knowing about her death!

6. Ruby Myres

The silent film actress, who had the stage name Sulochana, was one of the highest paid actresses of her times. In fact it was said she earned more than the Governor of Bombay. She was also the recipient of the Dada Saheb Phalke award. But people soon forgot about her and had no family by her. She died alone in her flat in 1983.
