6 Reasons Why Housefull 3 Is A House Full Of Fools

If you’re one of those fans of this confusingly chaotic comedy that has found a fair chunk of takers in the past, odds are you are likely to get disappointed when you come out watching this distasteful piece of work that makers claim to be calling a comedy. Housefull 2 was a stormy entrant into the 100 crore club and I have absolutely no complaints about it at all. The film despite being a mindless entertainer where it’s supposedly mandatory to leave your brains at home, had its share of fun. Of course, it wasn’t the writing but the candid timing of its actors with a relatively better plot to nourish.

This time, it is brainless yet unfunny, offensive yet unfunny, a ‘comedy’ but unfunny! Housefull 3 from the very onset is a ride you’d sense will take a toll on you.

6 Reasons Why Housefull 3 Is A House Full Of Fools

I’ll tell you 3 specific details that filmmakers of these so called ‘mindless comedies’ have subjectively made a checklist of:

An actor grabbing his crouch because a snake or a crocodile or ants (in this case) have clutched it!

A thick and long plant of cactus shoved up in the back of an actor because it’s funny!

A reference or two of an actor’s personal life because staying within the limitations of the real story is so outdated!

Housefull 3 successfully checks on the above pointers multiple times and makes sure people don’t confuse it with a logical comedy that makes efforts to genuinely put some laughs.

Here are 5 reasons why Housefull 3 is house full of fools:

    Unfunny Gags/Jokes

Housefull 3 is just plain and stupid without any support of a theory. The film is downright unfunny and you only sit through hoping for an occasional joke to make you laugh. Even when you do laugh on a gag, you find yourself questioning the very next second saying “why did I laugh there”? The film is filled with numerous sets of such gags that have either been seen before or are just crude and silly.

    Where’s The Acting?

Yes we know Akshay Kumar has a knack of pulling of such comedies even if he’s sleep walking and he doesn’t disappoint here either, but what about the bunch of other actors who present you nothing in the name of performance? Boman Irani isn’t done yet doing that stereotypical accent over and over again? Riteish despite being blessed with a supreme comic timing has to hold a stick and turn blind? The three girls right through the movie carry expressions loud enough on faces that say – ‘unapologetically dumb’!

As for Abhishek, I only have to thank him for having walked out of Hera Pheri 3, thank you so much!

    Disability

Since when did disability become hilariously funny?  I have no thoughts of the hurt sentiments that people round the corners may have, I’m only talking in terms of humor. How do these filmmakers get this idea of extracting laughs out of a disability? A man who can only speak through his actions is funny, a man who walks with a stick since he’s blind is funny, a man with perfect legs sitting on a wheelchair crippling down the stairs is apparently also funny. I understand few stories where a running gag or two around it may have raised some laughs in the past but when you base your complete story around disability, it stands to question your wisdom. Downright humorless!

6 Reasons Why Housefull 3 Is A House Full Of Fools

    Repetitive

Housefull franchise seems to have fallen victim of its own flavor. Besides the jokes and gags that as mentioned have already been seen before, the repetition in the narrative doesn’t go down very well with the audience. Same plot and almost similar treatment, is it in some way necessary you can’t change the backdrop one bit? If you’re planning to do another sequel which I’m hoping you don’t, please try and get something fresh!

    Too silly to Entertain Today

There’s a reason why I don’t blatantly blame this director duo is because I know they come from a writing background that has on repeated occasions yielded fruitful results despite having written such comedies. But there’s a colossal change of approach in filmmaking today! We’ve had enough of keeping your brains at home theory and even if you still want to take us through that drill, do something fresh. Housefull 3 is dumber than Housefull and Housefull 2 in multiple proportions, clear enough to suggest why it shouldn’t work today!

Did We Almost Miss a Sajid Khan?

I never thought I’d ever have to use these words but Sajid Khan was sort of missed there. Sajid-Farhad who are an equal match for Sajid Khan’s unabashedly crude and tasteless humor may have missed a trick or two there.  Housefull 2 as stupid as it was had some entertainment value attached to itself, and which is why Sajid Khan made his absence felt while I watched Housefull 3. A film has to be awfully made if it can make you miss Sajid Khan. Get my point?

Housefull 3 will probably do a 100 crores in sometime and the heartfelt efforts of people who work day and night to serve quality cinema will die a thousand deaths again.

If your idea of making a comedy is getting us to spend 300 bucks on your product and sit through countless minutes of offensive humor with occasional laughs here and there, that’s not a deal I’m willing to take!
