8 Women Centric Movies That Will Clash With Each Other At The Box Office In 2017!

2017 has been a little disappointing till now! But with the great line-up of films that are all set to release, we can hope that this would not hold true by the time the year ends. 2017 is especially significant because as many as 21 women centric movies might be releasing this year! And what’s more, some will even clash at the box-office.

Yes, you read that right. Not only will a number of movies based on women and their stories will hit the screens, some will even release on the same day!  Check out this list of 8 women centric movies that will have a face-off with each other at the box office:

    1.  Phillauri and Anaarkali Of Aarah (Release Date- 24th March)

Well, we know that Phillauri may not qualify as an out and out woman centric movie, but then the entire tale is told through Shashi, who stays on for another generation as a ghost. The premise is fresh, the cast is interesting and the music has already charmed everyone.  It is expected to be a blockbuster!

The other film, Anaarkali of Aarah is about a street singer/dancer who is molested during one of her stage shows and her fight to seek justice. Directed by journalist turned film maker, Avinash Das, the film has a power packed star cast – Swara Bhaskar, Pankaj Tripathi and Sanjay Mishra. While the buzz is low, the film might garner critical acclaim and is appealing many cinema goers!

While Phillauri might do a bigger business, thanks to its scale and budget, Anaarkali of Aarah might get good reviews and critical acclaim, thanks to the performers!

    2. Naam Shabana and Poorna (Release Date- 31st  March)

Naam Shabana is the spin off to Baby which will show the life of Shabana, played by Tapsee Pannu, before she joined the team of Baby! It is an incredible story of the making of a spy, and what makes it more interesting is that she is a woman. Baby was a superhit, and people are already eagerly anticipating for the movie.  Tapsee Pannu has already proved her mettle with Pink, and that makes it even more interesting!

Poorna is the story of Poorna Malavath, who became the youngest girl ever to scale Mount Everest. What makes her story even more incredible is the fact that she is a tribal who is from the flat lands of Telengana, but it was only through her indomitable spirit that she could achieve the feat! Aditi Inamdar will be playing Poorna, while Rahul Bose will play Praveen Kumar. The film is also directed and produced by the actor. The premise of the film is inspirational. Sports biopics in general have been doing well, but since Rahul Bose can be seen in a supporting role, this might also not be super successful, like what happened in the case of Budhiya Singh: Born To Run!

    3. Noor and Maatr (Release Date- 21st April)

Noor is the story of a journalist who has gone wrong big time and how she redeems herself. It is based on a novel by Pakistani author Saba Imtiaz titled 'Karachi, You're Killing Me'! The trailer looked absolutely brilliant and was extremely relatable. The videos are garnering millions of views in a span of very few days. Needless to say, it will see a big opening at the box-office!

Maatr hasn’t begun the promotions yet and only a teaser released today. It is about seeking justice for the crimes against women. It will be the comeback film for Raveena Tandon. The trailer will now decide how the audience will respond to it.

    4. Haseena: The Queen Of Mumbai and Mom (Release Date- 14th July)

Haseena is the story of Dawood Ibrahim’s sister Haseena Parker. The titular character will be played by Shraddha Kapoor and the film will also be her brother, Siddharth Kapoor’s debut.
