This Is Why Ankita Lokhande Has Been Missing From TV For So Long After Pavitra Rishta

Actor Aankita S Lokhaande rose to instant fame with her performance in her maiden show Pavitra Rishta. The actor, who was also seen in reality shows Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa, Comedy Circus, and the finite TV series Ek Thhi Naayka , has since been on a hiatus, and says she felt it was better to take a break than go on a signing spree.

“After playing the role of Archana (in Pavitra Rishta), I felt I can’t do everything that’s being offered to me. I found it apt to take a break than signing something that isn’t good enough. I couldn’t afford to disappoint my fans. Thus, I was looking for the right project when Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi [her debut film] was offered. I loved the character, Jhalkaribai,” says Aankita, who is busy prepping for her debut film. She will start shooting for it either in end of July or early August.

A few years back, it was speculated that the 32-year-old would make her Bollywood debut with Shah Rukh Khan starrer Happy New Year (2014). She was supposed to play Deepika Padukone’s role in the film. However, things failed to materialise. There were also reports of Aankita being a part of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmavati but that didn’t happen. Recent reports suggest that she might be a part of a film starring Sanjay Dutt.

Ask Aankita about these speculations and she says, “I wouldn’t like to talk about my past or future. The only project I am part of and am giving my heart and soul to Manikarnika. Doing substantial work, in any medium, is on my agenda.”
