4 Reasons Why Aditya Chopra's Befikre Is A Risky Film

In a year of several highly anticipated films, Befikre stands on its own. This Aditya Chopra film is one of the only big projects of this year whose main selling point is the potential chemistry between its two leads. And that isn't the only unconventional factor that the film boasts.

For one, its director is making only his fourth film in two decades. Aditya Chopra, who has made monumental films like Dilwale Dulhania Le Jaayenge and Mohabbetein, returns to directing eight years after the release of Rabb Ne Bana Di Jodi.  But given the success of his previous projects, his rustiness won't really affect the film poorly and hence isn't a risk.

No Shah Rukh Khan

Aditya Chopra's partnership with SRK is well known and incredibly adored. And it was safely assumed by everyone that when the director gets behind the camera once again, it will be King Khan that he'll be shooting. But instead for the first time, Aditya Chopra looked for another actor to step into his ginormous shoes. And that actor is Ranveer Singh.

Banking on Vaani Kapoor

Like said above, the success or the failure of Aditya Chopra's Befikre heavily depends on the strength of its two leads. And what's risky is that one of the two leads is a Filmfare Award winning actor (Ranveer Singh), while the other is only a film old (Vaani Kapoor).

Mainstream Bollywood is always improving but it still has to go a long way when it comes to depicting sex on screen. Befikre, whose basic premise is driven by the character's fearlessness, shouldn't suffer from filmmaker's tentativeness in depicting the topic. The film's premise, though bold, isn't really new

The plot of the film revolves around two young people who indulge in 'fun' with the promise that either of them won't get serious and falling in love. And this premise, though risque, isn't fresh, with countless Bollywood and Hollywood films dealing with it. So, the challenge here is that whether Aditya Chopra has made the film refreshing and stimulating despite it.
