4 Reasons Why Ajay Devgn's Shivaay is a Major Disappointment

So Ajay Devgn's much-hyped, much-antcipated passion project Shivaay released nationwide today and was -- for the lack of better words -- not good

The movie, being a Diwali release, might still earn the big bucks at the box office but when we talk in terms of cinematic value, the movie has too many flaws to make it a decent watch. It doesn't mean that the movie is all bad. There are some impressive cinematography and action sequences. Even the actors have did their job. But those reasons are not enough--not even close.

So, on that note,  let's discuss the biggest flaws the movie is plagued with:

    Logic, where is it?

4 Reasons Why Ajay Devgn's Shivaay is a Major Disappointment

No, a man can't jump for mountains without a haress, get shot, get stabbed, thrash hundreds of hooligans, escape from police custody multiple times, run after cars for ten minutes and do a lot of other highly improbable stuff, just because he is a 'special connection' with Lord Shiva.

Thematically inconsistent; too many genres crammed into one.

The major complain from Ajay Devgn's first directorial U Me Aur Hum was an underwhelming script. In Shivaay, on top of that, there is also problems in his directing. The movie plays so loose with its theme that it gets incoherent after a point. The movie's background score keeps on changing and so does the overall mood, which gets on your nerves.

    Length; it is too long

Yes, Shivaay's plot has many dimensions but they are not so much that they can't be contained within two-and-a-half hour window. Instead, the movie is nearly three hour long (172 minutes to be precise). The movie should have spent more time at the editing table.

Screenplay; cheesy dialogues and pretty standard action sequences

Another major Bollywood mainstream movie that suffers from a middling screenplay. The story in itself isn't bad. It has in fact few interesting themes but they are marred by the script, which especially could have had better dialogues.
