Very few actors are able to relieve themselves of the tags they earn in initial stages of their careers. It is humanly impossible to excel at everything but doing several things decently well is an art that requires a lot of precision- Physical and mental. 

Akshay Kumar is one of the few stars who have decoded this problem. He has been able to combine meaningful content with commercial success. Things that usually didn’t go hand in hand in case of Indian audience till the dawn of this millennium. This just speaks scores in favour of his star power.

Till now the versatile actor has done a film of almost every genre possible. He began his illustrious career with Saugandh in 1991. Since then he has cemented his position in the industry so is able to define his own content. He has teamed up with several lesser-known Directors and not-so-big producers, but still delivered great numbers at the box-office. 

He has done action, comedy, drama, suspense, thriller, social satires as well as cocktails of these genres which even big names remain to elude with equal poise. His boldness is commendable in the age where box-office success is only thing what matters. With ‘Rustom’ slated for release next month, let’s take a look at how his journey has unfolded along the years:

Action movies-Akshay’s ‘Khiladi’ series proved to be a major hit as the martial artist from Hong-Kong did the gravity defying jumps and lethal kicks himself. 

Comedy combined with every genre. Mr and Mrs Khiladi, Hera Pheri, Bhagam Bhaag, Welcome, Bhool Bhulaiyya, Housefull, De Dana Dan, Singh is King and this is not even half of what he’s done.  

Drama- Waqt: The Race Against Time, Patiala House, Dil to Pagal Hai and Hey Babyy. His acting skills were tested in these movies!

Social Satires- Oh My God! , Khatta Meetha were brilliant attempts at highlighting the social problems. Not many actors foray onto this path.
