    Akshay Kumar’s Toilet Ek Prem Katha Finally Ends The Dry Spell At Box Office!

    With a major jump on its second day of release, Akshay Kumar-starrer Toilet Ek Prem Katha has made a total of Rs 30.20 crore at the box office. At Rs 17.10 crore collection on Saturday, the film showed a 45% growth in box office collections compared to its Rs 13.10 crore opening day numbers.

    Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted the figures and wrote, “#ToiletEkPremKatha Fri 13.10 cr, Sat 17.10 cr. Total: ₹ 30.20 cr. India biz... ₹ 48 cr [+/-] weekend on the cards... SUPERB... #ToiletEkPremKatha has pumped oxygen in the lungs of an ailing film industry... The dry spell at the BO ends finally! #TEPK.”

    Toilet Ek Prem Katha also stars Bhumi Pednekar and Anupam Kher. Shree Narayan Singh makes his directorial debut with the film, made at an estimated budget of Rs 18 crore.

    Released across 3200 screens in the country, the collections of Toilet Ek Prem Katha are expected to rise with the extended Independence Day weekend.

    The film traces the story of a man whose wife leaves him after she finds out that there is no toilet in his house. Our hero, Keshav (Akshay) then sets out on a mission to win her back by building toilets in his village.

    Inspired by Prime Miniser Narendra Modi’s Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan, the film attempts to raise awareness about open defecation. Before the film’s release, Akshay also met PM Modi.
