Open Letter: Dear Prabhas, No Love Story Would Ever Be Perfect Now!

    Dear Prabhas,

While you’re battling with a whirlwind of marriage proposals, (Internet says you’ve rejected more than 6000 of them. I don’t believe it, they must have missed out on a few zeroes there) I hope this teeny tiny letter finds its way to reach you. This is not a marriage proposal, don’t worry. But just something I felt like saying, and I hope you get time to read it.

When we were growing up, many of us were told the stories of the popular knight in shining armour. We were told that one fine day someone will enter our lives and sweep us off our feet to never let us go. But to be honest, we never had any such example to look up to. All we could see around us, were heroes who were too busy with what we offered on the bed rather than in their lives. We were forced to believe that this is how it’s supposed to be, and an entire generation plunged into running after what they deemed fit to find love.

Only, it wasn’t love, it was a mirage.

In our desperation to find the perfect idea of a man to be loved, we turned to the west. When Ryan Gosling smiled, we crooned. When George Clooney appeared on any red carpet with his wife Amal by his side, we collectively let out a sigh that must wake up aliens from their sleep. We wanted the image of a perfect guy, and we kept looking for it until you came around.

Now, let me be honest. We’ve seen your films before. We have adored you before. We have loved the genuine boyish charm you effuse on the screen. But something has changed since your magnum opus Bahubali, which showed you in a new light. Something that has stirred a strange reminder of what we grew up longing for. The idea of our perfect prince.

I know I’ll be badgered with critiques about how the word Prince is feudal and there is no place for it in a democracy, but I’ll go on anyway because that’s what you are- The prince we were all waiting for.

After such a long time, we could see an Indian actor taking charge and siding with the right without being creepy. We all know you were just playing a character, but it was a character you devoted 5 years of your life to. A character that reminded us what were we missing and what did we deserve. I am constantly chiding myself to stay aware of not objectifying you, but now we can gladly exclaim that we have the definition of perfection, now.

We know you’re busy with N number of things and you might not read this, but just wanted to say that if you do, please remember that a million girls are thanking you right now for giving them hope and breaking their hearts simultaneously.

Hope that someone like you exists, heartbreak because no one else would ever come close to this perfection.

    Saaho Re Prabhas!
