Bollywood's love-affair with sports biopics has now reached a new height with the announcemnt of another movie about real-life cricketing heroes.

Much to the joy of numerous fans of Bollywood and cricket, it has been confirmed that a film about India's 1983 World Cup Winning Team is getting made.

The story of India's first World Cup success is an unforgettable one. After winning the first two World Cups, West Indies was the dominating force in the world of cricket. Imagine Australia in the 2000s. And when they came up against India in the final, they were favourites to complete a hat-trick. Well, that didn't happen and India shocked the world by beating the mighty West Indies at Lord's.

After Azhar, Dhoni and Sachin biopics, this reel-version of cricket heroes will combine the country's two greatest passions.

WHO'S MAKING IT?

Phantom films, co-owned by Anurag Kashyap, has the legal rights for the film. The production house, which promotes young directors, recently released Udta Punjab.

IT WON'T BE LIKE EMRAAN HASHMI'S AZHAR.

A peculiar thing happened in this year's Azhar. Touted as a sports biopic, the film didn't carry complete names of the characters, including the names of cricketers Mohammad Azharrudin played with and against. This dented the movie's ambitions. But the same won't happen in this movie as according to reports, all the team members have given their blessings to the film.

WHO WILL PLAY WHOM?

While there is no confirmation, rumours are abuzz today that Arjun Kapor will be playing the role of former Indian captain Kapil Dev. The 2 States actor will be interesting choice to play the six-feet-tall all-rounder.
