'Banjo' Teaser Breakdown: Nothing new except the Banjo
The much-awaited teaser of Riteish Deshmukh-starrer Banjo has been released by Eros. Films about rockstars always draw interest from audiences and first teaser of Banjo also shows promise.
It may seem a bit over-the-top for sophisticated viewers but that very fact can be the the film's strong point and give it a distinct identity.
Here are the major take-aways from the teaser:
First things first: in case you don't know, this is what a Banjo looks like.
Banjo is a popular folk instrument, one that has hardly been used in Bollywood films.
So okay. It's Mumbai.
Riteish belongs to the the raw underbelly.
He is from the mean-streets of Mumbai.
He fights like a boss.
And he plays Banjo like a boss.
Nargis appears with lots of jewellery.
Though it is said that Nargis is going to play the role of a DJ, the trailer doesn't show any signs.
Obviously a romance begins.
A lot of Mumbai-style dancing.
And some Ganpati puja.
Riteish reaches desi rockstardom.
Banjo has elements of Mumbai and setup of a rock movie. In a weird way, it also seems to be a cross between Kaminey and Rockstar. Though, the teaser is attractive enough, but you get the feeling that you have seen a lot of it before. Riteish seems comfortable in his role, and by the looks of it, he's the one who's going to carry the movie from start to end.
