    Ever since the Government of India launched their website bharatkeveer.gov.in, an initiative conceived by actor Akshay Kumar, it has been the talking point on social media. The digital platform that was launched on April 9, allows anyone to make direct monetary donations to the families of martyred Indian soldiers of paramilitary forces.

    Getting updated on a regular basis, the portal shared, on Friday morning, the details of the next of kin of recently killed 25 CRPF soldiers in a Naxalite ambush in Chhattisgarh. In a span of less than 12 hours, donations have been flooding in from all parts of the country. Head Constable K.P.Singh’s dependents—his wife and mother received a contribution of Rs 31,612, followed by ASI Naresh Kumar’s family that received Rs 28,851 and ASI Sanjay Kumar’s kin got Rs 25,821, at the time of filing this story.

    Sukma massacre took place on April 24 and 25 Central Reserve Paramilitary Force [CRPF] were killed in Maoist-related violence in Chhattisgarh’s district.

    Besides Akshay Kumar who has been constantly supporting the cause of soldiers, Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir also announced on Friday that his foundation will bear full expenses to educate the children of all the CRPF martyrs. “My team has already started work on this and I shall soon share the progress we have made,” he wrote in his column on Hindustan Times.

    Cricketer, Mohammad Kaif, tweeted, “Contribute to sustain families of Sukma martyrs at http://bharatkeveer.gov.in . A great initiative by @akshaykumar”.

    Extending her support, actor Anushka Sharma says, “If you want to support the families of soldiers who were killed in Sukma attack, Government of India’s website, bharatkeveer.gov.in, is the perfect platform to pay tribute and help their families.”

    Actor Akshay Kumar, meanwhile, warned fans on twitter that fraud sites and apps were taking take money in the name of this initiative and contributers need to be cautious in ensuring that they donate only on the Government of India website www.bharatkeveer.gov.in

    On April 25, the actor tweeted a tutorial of the website that gave an insight into how it works.

    Akshay was in talks with the government for a long time to take forward this initiative, and he met Union home secretary Rajiv Mehrishi early this year and discussed the proposal. The website was launched in April on CRPF Valour Day [April 9] and was inaugurated by Home Minister Rajnath Singh along with the actor.
