2016 Bollywood Report Card: 5 Bollywood Actors Who Didn't Do A Single Film This Year!

In the hustle bustle of life, did you realise, that five of the biggest stars of Bollywood didn't do a single movie this year?

Deepika Padukone

All throughout the year, we only spotted her with the two most important men in her life right now. Vin Diesel and Ranveer Singh. While Deepika Padukone is all pepped up to showcase her first Hollywood venture xXx - The Return of Xander Cage, she was nowhere to be seen at the movies this year. Last year she ruled the box-office and hearts of critics as well as audience with Bajirao Mastani. But, in 2016, Mastaani showered all her love over Hollywood while she shunted from India to the US countless times. Full points to her PR agency which made sure she was in news even if she wasn’t in the country, but Deepika did not star in a  single movie in 2016, which has created a void for sure. While her absence became a boon for many fresh faces who would have tanked had she had a release around them, missing in action for a year makes us miss her. Aren't you super excited for Padmavati?

Saif Ali Khan

The daddy to be, Nawab of Pataudi got overshadowed by Bebo and her baby bump in a cute way. But Saif was not in action at all. He maintained a low profile throughout the year with minimal public appearances. His only highlight of the year was the royal photo shoot with Kareena Kapoor Khan for Harper’s Bazar magazine. His last movie which was unfortunately flop, was Phantom with Kabir Khan and Katrina Kaif. It’s been a long while since we saw Saif charming us with his magic on screen. The good news being, he’s on board with Vishal Bharadwaj and Shahid Kapoor for Rangoon along with Kangana which makes our expectations sky high. Remember Langda Tyagi in Omkara? We hope to get him back in 2017.

Kajol

Dilwale tanked and the rest we know is a bitter time with best friend Karan Johar, thanks to her husband’s home production and directorial debut Shivaay. Kajol was in news throughout the year, but not for a movie. She made a lot of public appearances with husband Ajay Devgn to promote Shivaay and she’s never been so active on social media than she did in 2016. We saw her flaunting her beautiful sarees and selfies with kids, but Kajol’s absence from the movies is not a very good thing. And, especially now that she’s not in good terms with K Jo, we wonder if she’ll decide to do a movie with any other director or not. All we know for the latest update is that she’s doing a movie down south with Dhanush. Bollywood needs your magic Kajol!

Kangana Ranaut 

Kangana was in news for all the wrong and controversial reasons this year. From her web mails and bad break up with Hrithik Roshan, to being called a witch by former beau Adhyayan Suman, Kangana sifted through all the dirt and made her way out as a very valiant woman who doesn’t take sh*t from people. Perhaps this kept her away from the movies because her personal life needed more attention this year. She’s on board with Vishal Bharadwaj’s Rangoon with a fresh set of actors whom she’s never worked with before. Will the queen make a come back? 2017 will tell. 

Parineeti Chopra

She started the year with a bang due to her outstanding transformation and weight loss story. We only saw her doing an item number in Dishoom, but no full fledged role in particular. She moved around with her contemporaries on foreign tours and had her own share of endorsements, but she was completely missing in action from films. We’ll be able to see her in a much awaited YRF movie, Meri Pyaari Bindu with Ayushmann Khurrana next year, but Parineeti should have done more films. She confessed on Koffee With Karan about her highs and lows and how she dealt with depression. She moved into her new home, allegedly had a break up with director Manish Sharma, and concentrated on fitness. Worth taking a break we’d say. Let’s see if Bindu leaves us spell bound next year.
