Having gotten married to a US based doctor of Indian origin in 1999, Madhuri moved to Los Angeles and stayed away from the glitz and blitz of the industry. She made her comeback with Yashraj’s Aaja Nach Le in 2007, the film that was directed by cinematographer turned director Anil Mehta. In a rather tepid showcasing of a dance drama, the film was a major flop at box office and didn’t even have traces of Madhuri Dixit’s magic.

Karisma Kapoor – Dangerous Ishq

One of the most successful actresses of the 90’s, Karisma Kapoor too left acting after she got married in 2003. Having been on a sabbatical for almost a decade, she made a disastrous comeback with Vikram Bhatt’s supernatural 3D thriller film Dangerous Ishq. The film was completely thrashed by the critics and audiences that resultantly didn’t give Karisma a chance of making another comeback.

Preity Zinta – Ishkq In Paris

The Kal Ho Na Ho actress has only gotten married now but had started missing out on the silver screen game post her repeated debacles around 7 years back. However, she ambitiously turned a producer and made her comeback through a film called Ishq In Paris in 2013. The film that got constantly delayed for a lot of different reasons ultimately was turned down by the audiences as well.

Juhi Chawla – Gulaab Gang

While Juhi had never really said goodbye to the industry through the years, she however only made special appearances or did supporting roles. Although with Gulaab Gang in 2015, she made a full-fledged comeback alongside Madhuri Dixit. The film was pretty poorly received at the box office and didn’t help Juhi one bit in reclaiming her prominence again.

Aishwarya Rai – Jazbaa

One of the most talked about comebacks in the business was Aishwarya Rai making her way back through Sanjay Gupta’s Jazbaa last year. In a disastrously loud and animatedly performed character of a mother, she was welcomed with a tremendous flak from all around. The actress looked like coming straight from the times she left the industry without comprehending the changing sensibilities of the audience. The film too was a box office failure.
