7 Choreographers Turned Directors And How They Are Doing In Bollywood Right Now

A Big Bollywood movie is incomplete without quirky songs and choreographers who add life to it with their dance moves. Choreographers make sure that the dance moves leave an everlasting impact on us with the signature dance steps and make us groove in parties. Well, we do have some amazing choreographers in the bollywood industry but, what happens when these choreographers donned the director’s hat ?

Remo D’souza

The popular Dance India Dance Judge Remo has many films to his credit as a choreographer. From Badtameez Dil in Yeh Jaawani Hai Deewani to Sun Saathiya in ABCD 2, are proofs that his choreography has always won hearts. This choreographer wore the director's hat and has directed movies like F.A.L.T.U., Any Body Can Dance, AnyBody Can Dance 2 and recently released Flying Jatt, and all of them have done fairly well at the box office. Farah Khan

She has been in the industry for more than decades now, and she has been nailing it at choreography as well as direction. Her first directorial debut was “Main Hoon Na”, after that she has given us Blockbuster hits like Om Shanti Om and Happy New Year.Though her other films such as Joker and Tees Maar Khan couldn’t do well.

Bosco Martis

Bosco Martis of Bosco-Caesar fame, has given us super hit songs for the movies 3 Idiots, ZNMD, and Jab We Met. He is planning to debut as a director for a musical named- Circus. It’d be great to see his work in this field aswell.

Chinni Prakash

Chinni, who is an acclaimed choreographer for Telugu, kannada and Hindi films has given us some unforgettable hits like Jumma Chumma, and other songs for films like Khiladi, Mohra, and Main Khiladi Tu Anari, decided to don the director’s hat for Arun Bakshi and Ayesha Jhulka starrer Ghoonghat. But Unfortunately Ghoonghat tanked at the box office.

Prabhudeva

Prabhudeva who has given us grooving dance steps for hits like Kay Sera Sera, Main Aisa Kyu Hu, Gandi Baat etc etc., started direction with South Indian Movies. After tying his hands at direction there, he

debuted as a director in Bollywood with Salman Khan starrer Wanted, and later on directed Rowdy Rathore, Ramaiya Vastavaiya, R…Rajkumar and Singh Is Bliing.

Ganesh Acharya

Famous Choreographer, who is popular for his bindass dance moves, stepped into the industry in 1992, and is still nailing it at Choreography. Ganesh Acharya's donned the hat of a director with movies like Swami, which released in 2007 and Govinda Starrer Money Hai Toh Honey Hai in 2008.

Ahmed Khan

Ahmed Khan has been giving us some extraordinary movies since decades. He has won numerous awards for his choreography skills and has also tried his luck as a director with the movies like Sunny Deol starrer Lakeer and Shahid Kapoor Starrer Fool N Final but he hasn't been successful. There is no doubt that he has aced as a choreographer but maybe direction is not his cup of tea.
