Here's Why Pahlaj Nihalani, The CBFC Chief Is Going Befikre!

The moment we got to know that Ranveer Singh and Vaani Kapoor’s Befikre has 23 kisses in the movie we were sure that it was Censor Board chief Pahlaj Nihlalni’s worst fear come alive. We were hoping for him to be sharpening his scissors which have famously run over  films like James Bond’s Spectre in the past .

But if you were expecting something similar, we are sorry to disappoint you as Befire has surpassed all his standards and not a single kiss in the movie has been chopped off! What’s more? The film has been passed with a U/A certificate.

At the launch of the song ‘You and Me’  Ranveer stated “They (censor board) have seen the film and given us U/A certificate we are happy about it. The film is desi by heart. Adi (director Aditya Chopra) has shown kisses in this film in different way...there is a lot of warmth and love.” He also added “No one will feel offended by seeing kisses in the film. One can watch the film with kids and family members.”

At the time of releasing the trailer of Befikre  Pahalaj Nihalani passed off the 12 kisses in it and  was quoated justifying this in an interview, where he said “When we are strict with on-screen intimacy, people have a problem, when we let scenes of intimacy remain intact, people have a problem. The images in Befikre are not about the kisses alone. It’s about a whole lot of things, about love. The trailer shows kissing as a manifestation of love; it’s not there for titillation. All the kisses are in long shots. It’s only in close-ups that kissing on screen tends to look overblown. There is a difference between showing intimacy discreetly and getting so worked up about it that the camera becomes voyeuristic. As to why the CBFC has chosen to be liberal with the trailer, it’s because Aditya Chopra’s aesthetic sense makes the kissing look natural, and not vulgar at all.”

Now whatever you call that, but it’s certainly celebration time for team Befikre as the film prepares for a release on  December 9.
