The finale of perhaps the best season of Game Of Thrones has finally been aired. While HBO hackers had already leaked the climax, the internet was flooded with theories that stitched together, lead to the big grand finale!
Everything kind of makes sense now. The puzzle is almost complete and solved. The people who deserved to die are dead, and the ones who are alive are living to see the Great War!
The beginning of the last episode of Season 7 was spectacular. The meeting of the men of the North, mother of dragons and Lannisters at King’s Landing was a historic event. The entire cast, barring Sansa and Arya were under one roof for the first time. It was a huge relay of reunions! The Hound - Brienne, Podrick and Bron’s saw Tyrion after ages, Cersei and Tyrion met for the first time after he killed their father, Jon and Jaime met after the first episode in this one, and Daenerys met Cersei Lannister for the first time.
Dany’s grand entry into Dragonpit on her Dragon was a sight to behold and The Hound releasing a white walker at Cersei was like half our revenge taken, because the fear on her face was so satisfying. But this woman we tell you, is undeterred by any threat. Oh wait, did we forget the one sided conversation between The Hound and The Mountain? It was a moment which was as momentous as the truce deal!
It’s Jaime versus Cersei now
Cersie is just being herself and going back on her words to call truce! She lied to the northmen and Dany that she’d support them at the Great War, and this obviously didn’t go down well with Jaime.
He left King’s Landing and he felt the first snow hitting Westeros! Quite a moment it was! Despite Tyrion’s attempt to win at the war of words with his sister and figuring out that she’s pregnant, nothing helped. So Jaime is heading north now?
Let’s talk about Jon and Daenerys’ Boat Sex
This was exotic yet underwhelming to say the least since the moment we’d all been contemplating arrived, but on a boat? Really? The mother of dragons and the legitimate heir to the iron throne were making out on a boat, out of nowhere? And WTF was Tyrion trying to do outside their door? Listening to sensual sounds and the bed rocking the bottom? Erm… But, yeah they’re finally a thing and we can expect Dan to get pregnant in the next season without a doubt.
Samwell Tarly meets Bran and we finally know Jon’s real name, it’s not Jon Targaryen after all!
The writers, director and editors were in a hurry so they kept it short and sweet. Sam walked into Bran’s room, and within minutes he knew what a Three Eyed Raven is. Then Bran quickly warged back in time and we saw Rhaegar and Lyana Stark’s wedding. Jon’s real name is Aegon Targaryen and he is the true heir to the iron throne. That was quick! Jon is the true heir because it was Aegon Targaryen who created the iron throne, and Rhaegar's son who was killed bu The Mountain was also Aegon VI. So, Jon is symbolically the rightful heir of the iron throne!
LITTLE FINGER IS DEAD! VALAR MORGHULIS!
A very smartly scripted scene, Little Finger’s death was a moment of truth and ultimate happiness. Arya and Sansa frame him in the great hall at Winterfell, where’s he expecting a fight between the two Starks. He begs and pleads but very gracefully, Arya slashes his throat with his own dagger like a butter knife. We couldn’t be happier seeing him lying in a pool of blood. Deaths have never made us so happy in GOT!
Euron’s tricking the Northerners
Euron Greyjoy has actually not walked back home, but he’s sailing to Essos to find help from the Iron Bank who’ll give him an army of 20,000 men, horses and elephants, which Cersei thinks is a kickass move.
Ice Dragon breaks The Wall
The army of the dead have reached The Night’s Watch and The Night King flew atop Viserion and has successfully demolished a part of The enchanted Wall! We wonder if Torment and Beric are alive or not, but the army of the dead is now marching towards Winterfell!
For once Theon can thank the Gods for taking away his balls!
Theo’s showdown with his men from Iron Islands who call him a traitor for leaving behind his sister Yara with Euron, is a slightly overrated yet important moment in the last episode. He’s being beaten red and blue but when he gets hit where he shouldn’t be, he uses it as his strength to beat a man to death. He’s now following Euron to rescue Yara!
Along with these highlights, the background score composers deserve a special mention for enhancing the magnitude of the grand meeting at Dragon pit which was historic to say the least. With just one major death in this episode, and that too a happy one, is GOT finally going the happy way?
On a lighter and hopeful note, even though we have the Great War coming, which is unfortunate a year away right now, we know that a lot of broken pieces have come together to make sense. We now hope to witness the reunion of the Starks and Jon’s happiness when he sees all his siblings, sorry cousins again a Winterfell. How will they welcome Daenerys? Will they accept her as their Queen? What’s Jaime’s fate? Will Cerise’s unborn child make any difference to the entire situation? GOT Season 8 will tell us everything, because this is the end.
Tell us in the comments about how are you planning to cope with the fact that for now, Game of Thrones is OVER!
