A Glimpse Of Paradise Through Imtiaz Ali's 'Window Seat In Kashmir'

A Glimpse Of Paradise Through Imtiaz Ali's 'Window Seat In Kashmir'

It's heart-shattering and gut-wrenching to say this, but whenever we talk about Kashmir we talk politics. We talk about the boundaries and borders which were defined after the human existence, we talk about 'Kashmir ki Azadi' and the bloodshed that the valley had once seen. Though the onus has shifted from it being "The paradise on earth" to the "Troubled valley of violence", but filmmakers like Imtiaz Ali still concentrate on the beauty of Kashmir.

Imtiaz Ali, who is best known for films like Highway, Rockstar and Tamasha and has a template on which his films are made. Love is the essence of his films, and in this short film 'Window Seat in Kashmir,' he shows his infatuation for Kashmir through a Shikarawala's eyes. A usual day in Habibullah's life, while he rows his Shikara on the Dal lake and talks to people and share their experience.
