Here's Why These 10 Films Were The Most Searched Titles Of 2016 On Google

As 2016 comes to a close there is so much to look at in retrospect in Bollywood this year. Packed with some great movies and some disappointing ones the year has been big for the movie buffs as so much went on in the industry. Google too has finally come out with its #YearInTrends list and some really surprising names have cropped up in the list of movies that were the most searched in 2016. So here is the list movies that created most buzz in India this year and why.

10. Housefull 3 – The third installment of Sajid Khan’s Housefull released this year and this crazy flick was the 10 most searched movie of the year. One of the main reasons for its search surprisingly was a song from the film, Pyar Ki Maa Ki. Certainly a surprise element on the list as there was so much more worth talking about.

9. Conjuring 2 – The spine chilling horror story was the 9^th most trending movie in India this year. The Hollywood flick was heavily searched because of the main antagonist in the movie, Valak the demon nun. People seemed to be crazily looking up the history of the character, Bonnie Aarons the actress who played the nun in the film and also looking up for tutorials that could help them do make up that way.

8. Rustom – The Akshay Kumar and Ileana D’cruz starrer flick that was based on the real life incidents of the Nanavati case, seemed to have pricked a lot of curiosity. People searched most for the songs of the film, the history of the Nanavati case and about Rustom Nanavati.

7. Sairat – A young love story from the Marathi films, Sairat went viral across the nation. The movie was based on a honor killing story. The song Zingat from the film got extremely popular and was one of the most searched on the internet. Rinku Rajguru that young lead actress of the film was another reason for making the movie one of the most trending subjects in the nation.

6. Sanam Re – Besides the link up rumors of Pulkit Samrat and Yami Gautam and Pulkit’s divorce with his wife Shweta Rohira, there was no good reason took for the movie to get popular. But people surprisingly looked up for the reviews and rating of this movie the most.

5. Ae Dil Hai Mushkil – All the controversy surrounding the release of this Karan Johar movie was reason enough for it to trend this year, but this was not the reason surprisingly. It was the music of the movie that made it one of the most trending films this year. People searched Bulleya, Channa Mereya and Break Up song like crazy over Google.

4. Airlift – The third movie of Akshay Kumar in the most trending list of the year, people looked up the history behind the film that was based on a true inspirational story. People looked up Sunny Mathew upon whom the character of Akshay Kumar was based wanting to read more about him and the rescue operation he carried out for Indians in Kuwait. People also looked up the box office collections of the film.

3. Udta Punjab – The Shahid Kapoor movie that was centered around drug peddling in Punjab was much talked about for various reasons, but what people searched the most was for the leaked version of the film, and two songs, Ik Kuddi and Chitta Ve.

2. Kabali  - The Rajinikanth movie had to make it to the trends this year. With the state government of Tamil Nadu declaring a holiday on the release day of this film to people dying to get a ticket of this movie first day first show, this film drove the nation crazy. The most searched aspects of the film were tickets, the song Neruppu Da, and the box office collections of the film.

1. Sultan – Salman Khan’s Sultan remained number 1 on the trends this year with people searching for songs like, Jag Ghoomeya and 440 V from the movie and also looking up the reviews and box office collections of the film.
