As the most popular chat show host, filmmaker, new father/mother and India’s exceptionally gifted filmmaker turns 45 today, here’s a list of things that prove how difficult is it to be Karan Johar!

How’d you feel if you constantly deal with haters and trolls online? People, who have dangerously little knowledge about sexuality and sexual preferences?

Waking up to abusive tweets and words every morning while you haven’t even sipped your first cup of coffee is a bit too much. Karan had to use his book The Unsuitable Boy as a platform to lambast all the rumours and speculations around his sexual identity. He valiantly wrote. “Everybody knows what my sexual orientation is. I don't need to scream it out. If I need to spell it out, I won't only because I live in a country where I could possibly be jailed for saying this. Which is why I Karan Johar will not say the three words that possibly everybody knows about me.”

It’s absolutely disgusting to know that at some point in time he was rumoured to be in a relationship with his brother like a mentor who is his father figure, Shah Rukh Khan! He was asked by a journo about his ‘anokha rishta’ with SRK, to which he replied, “If I asked you if you are sleeping with your brother, how will you feel?”

At Heathrow airport, once a man asked him, “Is it true that you are a homo?”

How would you feel If the world starts interrogating you about your very existence and simplest preferences all the time? If you were Karan Johar, do you think you’d have dealt with such pressure and accusations as valiantly as Karan did?

The flagbearer of Nepotism

Karan Johar’s remark on Kangana and the entire debate on Nepotism still continues. Let’s not forget that the world we live in, doesn’t let people live and die peacefully. Karan Johar is a star maker and has given opportunities to people and made their careers. Alia Bhatt is his most successful emotional and professional investment so far. The girl has proved her mettle and Karan’s unconditional guidance and shadow in her life can’t be flushed away in the name of nepotism. He wasn’t 100% right or wrong during his Nepotism row when he made some comments on Kangana after the episode of Koffee With Karan. But the least you can notice is, that he’s been giving chances to many people and launching the careers of so many aspiring filmmakers. While you can logically argue that he’s been launching only star kids so far, his haters and the anti-nepotism squad can help him open a Karan Johar School Of Career Launchers. Not everyone has a Karan Johar in their life, and if they don’t that doesn't mean there’s no future for people outside the world of Nepotism. No one’s stopping anyone!

He too had to start from scratch

It’s high time that we acknowledge that people from every stratum and economic backgrounds have their respective problems and challenges in life. It’s not Karan’s fault that he is a south Bombay boy who attended the best schools and colleges, and his father was the most respected professional in the film business in his time. Those who’ve read his book would know how his father passed away and he didn’t even know the CA of his company. It was Anil Ambani who brought him his father’s letter about the essential business details and information. It isn’t a cake walk to carry forward your father’s legacy and maintain the brand name and take it to even greater heights! He trusted his childhood friend Apurva Mehta for taking over his company as the CEO and still places his unconditional trust in him. It’s easy to curse the affluent for being affluent, but someone worked their ass off to reach that economic status. So if that hurts people, then they’d better work harder. Karan did that and he’s bloody successful, beat that!

Single Father who is also a mother

Roohi and Yash arrived in his life in February and he named them after his parents. Karan’s struggle with his identity and taking up the decision to have children at the age of 45 has not been easy for sure. No matter how many nannies you employ and money you spend on your kids, the personal touch and intervention cannot be replaced. The most brilliant film marketer and filmmaker is now a father and a mother to his children, not to forget that he has a mother to take care of too. Can you imagine doing that while you literally manage a whole parallel empire on your shoulders?

The social butterfly

Karan Johar is everywhere on Television, reality shows, parties, events, award ceremonies, and he has a nexus of close friends who now and then require him in their lives. Karan is almost like a robot who hovers from place to place, party to party and meetings to make sure he has a sane social life too. Amidst all the pressure and hoopla around his personal life and intriguing eyes, Karan has managed to be everyone’s go-to person in the film fraternity. While most of us struggle to manage a life outside work, think how difficult would it be to strike a balance like K Jo has?

 Karan is almost a magician who weaves dreams, and all we'd say is 'Don't let the muggles get you down Karan!'.
