Lady Gaga delivered a powerful performance of 'Til It Happens To You' from the documentary 'The Hunting Ground' at the stage of 88th Academy Awards for which she had won a joint nomination with ballad master Diane Warren. The documentary is about a series of sexual assaults on American college campuses. Songwriter Warren and Lady Gaga, who themselves, are a victim of sexual assault had bought the trauma and pain on the stage with their musical words.

The performance climatically ended with when a crowd of grim-faced young adults moved forward on the stage with powerful messages written on their hands. Their forearms revealed reality and read words like 'Not Your fault', 'Unbreakable' and 'Survivor'.

Lady Gaga was visibly emotional throughout the performance, but a few minutes later she lost the Oscar to Sam Smith and Jimmy Napes' for 'Writing's On The Wall'.
