    Hyderabad-based playback singer LV Revanth bagged the most-coveted title of Indian Idol in the Season 9 of the singing reality show conducted by Sony Television on Sunday. In his post-victory interview, Revanth said he would like to learn Hindi and make it big in Bollywood - as a reaction to all the mockery he faced during the show. However, Revanth is not the first non-Hindi speaking singer who won the Indian Idol.

    There have been several non-Hindi speaking people who have made it big in the Bollywood music industry -- even the biggest musician in Hindi cinema is AR Rahman, a non-Hindi speaking person.

    Prashant, launched his first album, Dhanyavad (which had Hindi and Nepali songs) after winning Season 3. He has sung Nepali songs and did a music tour in the US.

    The Indian Idol Season 4 winner was also the first female winner of show. Saurabhee recently got married to Kapil Thappa, a fellow contestant on the show. She does live shows currently.

    Sreeram became a playback singer for films such as Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani (Subhanallah), Khiladi 786 (Balma) and more recently Raees (Zalima DJ mix). “I’m into acting as well and have done a couple of small projects as lead actor and signing another project. I’ve done a video which will be out soon,” the season 5 winner told Hindustan Times.

    After winning Season 7, which was also the first season of Indian Idol Junior, Bengaluru-based Anjana is finishing school. She is studying in eighth grade. She often performs at concerts where she sings both Hindi and Kannada songs.

    The winner of the second Indian Idol Junior i.e. Season 8 of the reality show, Ananya, has done playback singing in MS Dhoni: The Untold story (Padhenge Likhenge). She is now preparing for her class 10th Board exams and plans to continue playback singing. She has also signed up several Odiya films as playback singer.
