Movie Review: Kapoor And Sons

    Movie Review: Kapoor And Sons

The first half of Kapoor and Sons belongs to Fawad Khan and Rishi Kapoor. The movie is so relatable and real that it grips you right from the beginning. Unlike other larger than life Dharma Movies, Shakun Batra has given us a pinch of reality. All performances are great including Rajat Kapoor and Ratna Pathak Shah.

The sets are beautiful and even the kitchen looks like the one you have at home!

Sidharth and Fawad look adorable as brothers and the moments they share as siblings and their fights will make you want to hug your siblings! If you have an ailing grandparent you know how to throw a party for them, thanks to 'Buddhu sa Mann.'

The first half of the movie is slow but very real! It's a bag full of emotions and bang on comic timing. Mind the dirty jokes, they're super fun! From London to New Jersey and Coonoor, this one's another flick which will make you want to go on a holiday!

    Movie Review: Kapoor And Sons

Wait till we get back with the second half. Meanwhile, stay with us with the live tweets.

Kapoor & Sons definitely belongs to Ratna Pathak Shah! She steals the show from Rishi Kapoor. Every scene, whether she’s angry or she’s crying, she’s so believable that we’d like to bow down to her.

There are scenes which will definitely move the 90s kid will relate to. From viewing old photo albums to singing old songs, this movie will make you overtly nostalgic. The Kapoor family sings Chaand Si Mehbooba and Fawad plays the guitar while everyone sings along. This scene might sound simple on paper, but is a treat to watch.

Alia Bhatt has a small but imperative role which drives the movie around the climax. Sidharth Malhotra’s performance is commendable but everyone else gets overshadowed by Fawad, Ratna and Rishi Kapoor.

There’s a superb twist which I’m sure some movie buffs might already be expecting, but it’s dealt with great sensitivity and shows the real reflection of our orthodox society. Kapoor & Sons shows you your innerself which we all try to hide, that somewhere, we all come from complex and dysfunctional families. We have our own baggage and emotions which we better sort out ASAP because yeh zindagi chhoti hai, aur time kam hai.

This movie will make you want to run to your siblings, lover, parents and everyone whom you’ve not spoken to in ages. You might just confess you love to someone you’ve been longing for (Thanks to Bolna which music lovers for sure are humming like a bhajan already). Rishi Kapoor’s obsession with dying makes you want to live life in a better way, enjoy every moment and sort the shit out.

Almost every character has epic one liners which are bang on! Dharma has really moved out of its niche larger than life canvas to show us a beautiful and realistic picture of life in a very happy-sad possible way.

Kapoor & Sons can be watched with your family, siblings and lovers, and you might just come out of the theatre with a big grin, a lighter heart, and a hopeful futureThis is one of those films, which give answers to the problems that exist in your life. It is not like YJHD, but does give you a similar feel like the former did.
