3 Fresh Ways Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmavati is in Even More Trouble

Okay, we are getting a liitle tired of Padamavati.

After what can only be called a long and painful excercise to finalise the three leads of the movie (they are finalised, right?), now new reports are coming in that will further annoy everybody.

Just to recap: Padmavati, which will be based on the life of the Rani of Chittor in Rajasthan, is largely about the queen (Deepika Padukone) and Sultan Alauddin Khilji’s (Ranveer Singh) obsession with her. Whille Deepika Padukone was finalised early on, the remander of the roles have been difficult to find.

All caught up? Here we go for new controversies.

#1 Two out of the three leads are still not okay working in the movie.

If reports are to be believed, Ranveer Singh has asked Sanjay Leela Bhansali to cut short Shahid’s role in the period drama. He even asked the director to credit the Kaminey actor as special appearance or guest appearance. However, Bhansali refused to succumb to the actor’s demands realizing that this would be unfair to Shahid.

#2 Sanjay Leela Bhansali attacked by historians and politcial parties.

It has been reported that political parties have reservations about Sanjay Leela Bhansali's film. Questions are arising that the film which would tell the story of Queen Padmavati who is an icon for Rajasthani and Gujarati people. It has been said that if not impressed by the filmmaker's vision, there will be protests against the film.

    # 3 Clash with Salman Khan.

Earlier this month it was announced that Salman Khan's super-successful Ek Tha Tiger is getting a sequel which would release on Christmas 2017. In case you didn't know, that is the scheduled release date of SLB's Padmavati.

This is a big problem for two reasons. First, to clash with the biggest commercial force in the industry (Salman Khan) is not a sound decision for anyone. And secondly, Padmavati reportedly boasts a budget of 180 crore(!). To be successful then, the filmmakers need to rule the box office, which becomes excessively difficult if the film releases opposite(or even close to) Salman Khan's Tiger Zinda Hai.

    God save Padmavati!
