Following Fitoor’s massive disappointment, Katrina Kaif depends heavily on her remaining two releases of the year. Fitoor, which also starred Aditya Roy Kapur and Tabu, was not only panned critically but is considered to be the biggest commercial flop of the year, earning a mere ₹42 crore against its ₹70 crore budget.

This puts added pressure on Katrina’s other 2016 releases – Jagga Jasoos and Baar Baar Dekho – to work.

Jagga Jasoos, which pairs her opposite Ranbir Kapoor, is directed by Anurag Basu and would tell a story of a teenaged detective who is in search of his father. The film is supposed to be a comedy-drama and would also have Govinda in an undisclosed role.

The film, which was due to be released on June 3rd, has reportedly been pushed back to August because of the separation of its co-stars. There has also been news emerging that because of the split, Katrina has lost a lot of weight, which is causing even more difficulties in winding up the film.

Baar Baar Dekho, which is produced by Karan Johar and Farhan Akhtar, will have Katrina Kaif and Siddharth Malhotra sharing the screen for the first time. Little is known about the film’s details and it will have Nitya Sharma, who was the assistant director of Life of Pi, at its helm. The film is scheduled for a worldwide release on September 9th.

However, all of this doesn’t mean that her career is in trouble. Even if, by some minor miracle these movies (which seem solid on paper and thereby unlikely to fail) don’t do as well as they should, there are a few roles she is reportedly being offered.

First one of those is in Anand L. Rai’s next. The Tanu Weds Manu and Tanu Weds Manu: Returns director’s next movie will have Katrina paired opposite Shah Rukh Khan.

The other role she is reportedly in talks for is opposite Salman Khan. Kabir Khan, who would be directing the said film, has already worked with both of the stars—Ek tha Tiger and Bajrangi Bhaijaan with Salman Khan and Phantom with Katrina Kaif.

Apart from the above-mentioned movies, she is also reportedly in talks for Dostana 2 with John Abraham and Abhishek Bachchan, and Jewel of India with Amitabh Bachchan.

All of this is not too shabby for a star who is supposedly struggling.
