The Mozart Of Madras, A.R. Rahman gave his soulful voice to the film in songs like "Khalbali', 'Tu Bin Bataye', 'Luka Chuppi' and the title track by Daler Mehndi 'Rang De Basanti' topped the charts.

The movie was flooded with awards like 2007 International Indian Film Academy awards for Best Movie, 2007 Star Screen Awards, 2007 Zee Cine Awards and many more. The movie was also nominated for Best Film not in English language at the 2007 British Academy of Film and Television Arts awards and at Oscars in 2007.
