Comedians Don't Stand up For Comedians - AIB Roast Controversy

The AIB Roast controversy has got everybody weighing in their opinions! But what we really want to know is what other comedians think of the issue.

In an article (read here) of the Hindustan Times, here's what comedians- who are a popular face on TV -  Ali Asgar, Krushna Abhishek and Sunil Grover had to say!

Sunil Grover, who plays Gutthi on 'Comedy Nights with Kapil', took a neutral stand on the issue! Sunil opines, "criticism is okay, but not objections or threats to put people in jail just because they expressed themselves. The people at the show were laughing at themselves and it wasn’t telecast on TV; it was uploaded on the Internet, which has all sorts of other things as well. People watched it by choice. It’s simple; if you don’t like it, don’t watch it"

However, Ali Asgar, who plays Dadi on the same show is of a slightly different opinion! - "Even I have, at times, touched upon some below-the-belt jokes, but I have never gone overboard. Otherwise, there will be no limit to what you can and can’t talk about. No one will be spared then. One should express themselves and set their own limits," he feels.'' He further adds:

The popular comedian Russell Peters who was in town for a show, defended the AIB comedians, condeming Aamir's comments on the roast controversy. According to an article of the Hindustan Times (read herehe said, "Seriously, who is he, the so-called artist, to say that he found it violent and that AIB and rest involved should have been responsible? He did not even see it! Someone please ask him to shut up and take care of his own business".

He further added, ''He is an actor; not even a real artist. He goes in front of the camera and reads out lines that someone else has written. Then, he is giving his opinion about something that is honest!"
