Here's How Salman Khan Fails To Beat SRK Despite Sultan Success
Sultan is doing the unbelievable everyday. From reaching the 200 crore mark in record time to the biggest Eid opening ever, the film is all-set to dethrone PK to become the highest grossing Indian movie of all time.
Nobody would disagree this but the biggest reason for this humongous success is the popularity of its star Salman Khan. Khan, who now has a record ten films in the 100 crore club, is now easily the biggest star in the country.
But however mind-boggling Sultan's success might be, there are still some records that the wrestling film fell shy of. And unsurpisingly these records are held by man he replaced at the apex of the industry: Shah Rukh Khan.
Here they are:
Number one: Highest Opening Day Record
Even though Sultan had a massive opening, it fell short of Shah Rukh Khan's Happy New Year. While the wrestling film earned a whopping ₹38 crore, it is still less when compared to the Shah Rukh Khan film, which earned ₹44.97 crore at the box-office.
Number two: Highest Three Day Collection
SRK’s Happy New Year wins this battle as well. The heist comedy, by it’s 3rd day, had minted ₹106 Crore which is slightly more than the ₹105.34 Cr total of the Salman Khan-Anushka Sharma starrer.
Number three: Highest Opening Internationally
Sultan had a massive opening of ₹20.50 crore in the overseas market. While that is unbelievable in itself, compared to Shah Rukh Khan's Dilwale, the film fell short. Internationally, the team of Shah Rukh Khan and Rohit Shetty earned ₹22.61 crore on Day 1.
