Salman Khan Talks About Tubelight, Nepotism And Katrina In This Tell-All Interview With Anupama Chopra!

Well, ahead of the release of his film ‘Tubelight’, Salman bares his heart, and himself in this candid interview with noted film critic and journalist Anupama Chopra. Here are some highlights:

    About Tubelight

Salman feels that Tubelight is one of the best movies he has done till now. He says that if the viewers felt that Sultan or Bajrangee Bhaijaan had the best performances of Salman Khan because he looked vulnerable on-screen, then Tubelight is “ten times more”. He calls it the “most beautiful film” and he believes that everyone in the audience will be able to relate to this movie.

Salman also talked about how Kabir Khan only had images about the film before he wrote the script. He also talks about his chemistry with his brother Sohail Khan in the film, who also plays his on-screen brother!

    About Nepotism

He spoke about the ongoing debate on Nepotism and said that chance is given only when someone is deserving. Salman said,

“Only if there’s someone who is deserving, then we would recommend. Not only family, even friends and other people. We would never mix friends or family with work. Never do that. I’ve never done that so far, they’ve never done it with me.”

    About Katrina

He also talked about Katrina and about how she never recommended her to any director at the beginning of her career. He said:

"I worked with Katrina but she was never opposite me, she was opposite Govinda, opposite Sohail but never opposite me. Then we did a film called Yuvraj which I didn’t want to sign. But she wanted to be a Subhash Ghai heroine because of the way he portrays his heroines, so she signed the film and that film didn’t work. I don’t think that off-screen and on-screen should go like that. After that we did Tigerand that worked. Now we are doing Tiger Zinda Hai and that should also work."

    On being an actor

Salman said that he is never an actor. Even brother Sohail affirmed that and said that he is so spontaneous that one will never feel he is acting. Salman said that at the start of his career, he would only enact people around him. So he tried to be Sohail when it came to comic timings and tried to present the anger of his father and Arbaaz when it came to a serious role. In fact he also mentions how he has combined the characteristics of Mahesh Manjrekar’s son Satya and his double ‘Parvez’ for the character in his upcoming film ‘Tubelight’.

Salman also mentions that he says yes to a film only when he can imagine himself in that role. He also said that recently when he went to promote his film on show by comedian Sunil Grover, he felt “so incompetent” as an actor. In fact the humble actor also said that he has lucked out and that there are people 10 times more talented than him but still struggling but he is lucky to have achieved a connect with the audiences.
