5 Times Salman Khan Didn’t Bother About Eid To Deliver A Blockbuster

Ever since 2009’s fast paced action flick Wanted turned out to be a resurgent for Salman Khan’s diminishing career, Eid became a hallmark of his later releases. If Tubelight and Tiger Zinda Hai are to be counted in his filmography, Salman will have done 12 releases since 2010 with 7 of them being Eid releases. Needless to state, all of those 7 releases have been bumper blockbusters. But what about the rest?

As much as we signify Eid as a synonym for Salman Khan releases, Bhai has proved he’s not just a Eid Ka Chaand. Here are 5 times Salman Khan had non Eid releases and here’s how they fared:

Ready

Release Date – June 3^rd 2011

Collections – 120 crores

Right after delivering a mega blockbuster like Dabangg on Eid 2010, Salman Khan came up with Ready in 2011. The Aneez Bazmee directorial comedy opened to an earth shattering response and soon entered the 100 crore club. While Salman already had a Eid release lined up in the looks of Bodyguard, Ready was still a big hit despite being a Non Eid release.

Release Date – December 21^st, 2012

Collections – 159 crores

After having delivered a blockbuster like Ek Tha Tiger on Eid in the same year, Dabangg 2 came out in the later part and became a blockbuster. Being one of the rare winter releases of Salman Khan, the film was one of the biggest hit the year.

Jai Ho

Release Date – January 24^th, 2014

Collections – 111 crores

While we agree Jai Ho is one of the least performing Bhai movies in the last 7 years, the film still made profits and earned more than 100 crores at box office. The film was a January release and against the popular opinion of Salman Khan delivering best on Eid, the film started the year on a high.

Prem Ratan Dhan Payo

Release Date – Nov 12, 2015

Collections – 207.40 crores

While he had already owned Eid 2015 with Bajrangi Bhaijaan, he snatched away Diwali too with this Sooraj Barjatya family drama. PRDP earned a massive collection of over Rs. 200 crores and proved yet again why Salman doesn’t need Eid to deliver blockbusters.

Tiger Zinda Hai

Release Date – December 22^nd, 2017

While Salman has Tubelight coming out on Eid this June, Salman Khan is already shooting for his next film Tiger Zinda Hai that comes out on Christmas. In all possibility, the film is expected to be a blockbuster. While trade pundits are predicting a ruckus at box office, it will be interesting to see how this sequel to Ek Tha Tiger performance.

Just like they say, Bhai doesn’t need a festival to release his film, a Salman Khan film is a festival in itself!
