Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted Saturday afternoon, “#MeriPyaariBindu Fri ₹ 1.75 cr. India biz.”

He further added that it was the impact of Prabhas-starrer Baahubali 2 The Conclusion, that adversely affected the collections of both Meri Pyaari Bindu and Amitabh Bachchan-starrer Sarkar 3.

Directed by Akshay Roy, Meri Pyaari Bindu traces the story of childhood friends-turned-lovers Abhi (Ayushmann) and Bindu (Parineeti).

Even at an estimated budget of Rs 22 crore, the film may not be able to break even if does not score a huge jump over the weekend. The film was released in 750 screens in India and another 325 overseas screens.

On the other hand, Ram Gopal Varma’s Sarkar 3 opened slightly better than Meri Pyaari Bindu, but that doesn’t seem enough. As per Boxofficeindia.com, the Amitabh Bachchan-starrer has fathered Rs 1.88 crore on its opening day.

Sarkar 3 also opened in significantly higher number of screens than Meri Pyaari Bindu. Sarkar3 was allotted close to 1400 screens.
