6 Times Shah Rukh Khan Disappointed Us With His Performances

One of the best things about Shah Rukh Khan is that even though he has reached stratospheric level of stardom, he continues to surprise us with how good he can be as an actor.

The same can be seen in this year’s Fan, which caused critics singing his praises—and reminded those who dismiss him as ‘just a star’.

Such has been SRK’s career. He will dazzle us in one film and then go and do a film that is average to say the very least. Not to say that he hasn’t won over audiences and earned a lot of money with his big-budgeted films.

But since its Shah Rukh Khan we are talking about, anything less than great causes a profound disappointment.

On that note, here’s a rundown of his below-average performances:

    Ra. One

We know superstars don’t really age the same way normal people do. But did 45-year-old Shah Rukh really need to play a sub-par superhero in an even more sub-par superhero film. The childish and hapless script didn’t reflect well on Shah Rukh Khan.

    Ram Jaane

Though this 1995 film did well commercially, but then again so have nearly all films with Shah Rukh Khan. SRK was less than convincing in the role of a gangster.

    Chennai Express

Granted when you’re in a Rohit Shetty film, there’s some amount of over-acting that you have to do as an actor. But Shah Rukh Khan doesn’t over-act. Instead, he makes his character so larger than life that any over-the top acting he might do is absorbed in the character. He failed to do that in Chennai Express.

    Trimurti

Rarely does it happen that Shah Rukh Khan is the weakest link in a movie. Though that was the case in this 1995 film that also had Anil Kapoor, Jackie Shroff in it.

    Dilwale

Like Rohit Shetty’s Chennai Express, Dilwale also broke all the records at the box-office. Also, both the films were just as bad. SRK’s performance wasn’t great either, winning him the despised Ghanta Award for Worst Actor.

    Happy New Year

When you realise that Abhishek Bachchan was better than Shah Rukh Khan in a film, you know that something is not right. In this idiotic heist comedy, SRK was simply disappointing—and at times, even annoying.
