8 Years of Singham: Here’s Why The Film Is The Best Product Of Brand ‘Rohit-Ajay’!

Rohit Shetty and Ajay Devgn have always been seen as a brand who every now and then would churn out movies that only served to cater the most basic need of an audience - ‘entertainment’. From having made rib ticklers like the Golmaal series, All The Best and Bol Bachchan, the duo apparently also created hardcore action dramas. 6 years ago on the same day, Rohit and Ajay came out with a product that defined a new high for them around action called Singham.

A remake of the Tamil super hit starring Suriya, Singham released in 2011 and was unanimously hailed as one of the most entertaining action films in the last decade. It dealt with each and every aspect of serving your masala needs and brought itself up as a perfect cop-villain drama. There were shades wrapped around the film that made it a repeat viewing and still goes as an easy watch whenever it’s on TV.

6 Years of Singham: Here’s Why The Film Is The Best Product Of Brand ‘Rohit-Ajay’!

Here’s what we think made Singham the best Rohit-Ajay product to come out of their brand:

    The Cat-n-Mouse Game

Cop dramas are usually engaging and we saw that in Dabangg just a few months before the release of Singham. However Singham had a better catch to itself! The fast paced cat-n-mouse game with each one of them going after one another was something that audiences saw after a long time. The intensity, the drama was pretty evident in the narrative that didn’t let the narration slip away at any point.

    The Action

Singham was loaded with a lot of Rohit Shetty’s style of thrill. The ‘good guy thrashing bad guys’ kind of action took us back to the times when we only knew one word around action – kickass. The high dose of action packaged around the narration was something we wouldn’t have ever complained for.

    The Hero – Ajay Devgn

While we’ve seen him as a straight ass cop in a much sensible and realistically closer Gangaajal, this avatar of Ajay Devgn had him expand his range. It’s tough to imagine anybody else filling in the shoes of Singham other than him. The fire in his eyes, the dominance in his voice made way for a Singham we truly needed to see.

    The Villain – Prakash Raj

You don’t just show up as a villain and overshadow the hero unless your name is Prakash Raj. The screen presence of the actor is pretty intoxicating and he again proved it bigtime in Singham. We saw that happening in Salman Khan starrer Wanted, Singham was probably a better extension of his flair. He was funny, scary and exactly how we expected him to be. The style with which he pulled of Jaikant Shikre was simply absorbing.

Singham is one of those cinematic experiences that you don’t mind watching over and over again. The film may have come out back in 2011, this is one product that’s unlikely to age ever.
