Sultan Nears Another Milestone, Great Granad Masti Opens Slow

While Sultan has been the undisputed ruler of box office in the last few weeks, the only prominent release to give it some kind of competition was Indra Kumar’s Great Grand Masti. The film was initially expected to perform well at the box office but couldn’t showcase it presence of valuable strength at the box office.

Great Grand Masti, despite a good round of promotions and an unwarranted element of sex comedy helping it as a promoter hasn’t been able to get more numbers. The film has opened quite averagely at the ticket counters while it was expected to perform better. Great Grand Masti has opened to a lower mark than the likes of Sultan which is still going strong it key markets.

Despite the likes of Kya Kool Hain Hum3 and Mastizaade opening much better, the competition this fresh release has now got has restricted its chances of making a difference. The year hasn’t seen a lot of biggies minting money at ticket counters, so Great Grand Masti was something the makers had their expectations attached to.

Unlike the two other sex comedies we had this year, Great Grand Masto opened much lower and could only garner 5 crores in 2 days. The film opened to an average 2.5 crores on Friday and could not show any acceleration on Saturday and earned the same figures. Given the current box office trends and potentials, the figures of this Indra Kumar directorial aren’t very encouraging.

On the other hand, the already box office destroyer Sultan found its pace back in its second weekend and took a big jump in terms of numbers. The film added a healthy 11.46 crores in its kitty and raised its tally up at 248 crores. The film as we speak right now has already crossed the 250 crore mark.
