The New X-Men Movie Will Face The Biggest Challenge Yet, Being Relevant!

There is no bigger joy than the news of a new Marvel movie coming out. And, yes this might seem like an exaggeration but there is an element of truth in the above statement. With the studio wars not coming to an end anytime soon, the world where all Marvel Heroes are under one umbrella seems like a pipe dream. That does stick out like a sore thumb, but the news of a new Marvel movie from the trenches of Fox’s office. The movie that I’m talking about is X-Men: Dark Phoenix and it will be the eighth installment of the main series while overall it will be 13th in the overall franchise.

The New X-Men Movie Will Face The Biggest Challenge Yet, Being Relevant!

From the news going around it sure seems like the movie is going to be the biggest movie of the franchise. If rumor mills are to be trusted, then we might get a glimpse of the aliens that have essentially been an integral part of the franchise. Originally, the Dark Phoenix Saga has had the alien setting embedded in there. For those not aware, the Phoenix that takes control of Jean Grey isn’t of terrestrial origin.

It has already been confirmed that Simon Kinberg will be taking the charge as he will be directing X-Men: Dark Phoenix

With more information coming out about the movie certain conclusions can be reached as to what characters we might be meeting with the new X-Men movie. The descriptions for the new characters, indicate that Dark Phoenix will be introducing us to Rouge, albeit a much younger one. There are other characters that seem really interesting addition to the X-Men universe created by Fox. There is a lot of potential that the movie can explore and a lot of IP for Fox to make use of. But, the essential question will be can Fox make this one into the X-Men movie that feels different. Phoenix Saga will have a lot riding on Jean Grey which will be played by Sophie Turner.

GoT fans might rejoice, but Sophie Turner is not a crowd puller, and Fox doesn’t have Hugh Jackman as the star, yes, not even for a cameo. The dynamics that the movie will set will have to be carried by Professor X and Magneto. There is a lot that can be explored using the dynamics that these two share, and Phoenix Saga will be a great opportunity to lead the movie into different and fruitful directions. That hasn’t been the case sadly. Magneto is a powerful personality with his own set of ideals, the movie doesn’t seem to get this. Every movie has Magneto in a conundrum where finally professor shows him the light. This shouldn’t be the case anymore as it kind of is getting boring. What we need instead is a much more diverse and smart writing that can show us the spectrum on which these two operate. More like, Martin King Luther and Malcom X, because that is exactly what these two characters are in the Marvel Universe.

I’m hopeful for the franchise but Fox is an unpredictable production house when it comes to their Marvel property. Apocalypse was okay in my opinion, Logan wasn’t canonical. And, the bar has been raised to an altogether different level with Wonder Woman.
