Chutney has an impeccable grip and despite lasting just 15 minutes, it leaves you numb by the end. Tisca Chopra, who otherwise looked totally amazing even when she was playing a mother in Taare Zameen Par, tones down for this one and  performs an average housewife of a well-established man. She then manages to carry the whole short film totally by her narration thereby giving us enough glimpse of how Bollywood left this powerhouse of talent more or less unused even today.

She invites a woman who has a huge soft corner for her husband for a girly chat on a lazy afternoon. What then ensues is a typical gossip session between two ladies. The nonchalance with which the hostess reveals a dark secret to her guest is super screen writer stuff. We are left with a little bit of a tensed unanswered question in the end. Was the story true or was a jealous wife just getting back at her tormentor. The two servants are pivotal to the plot, particularly the shocked look on the over smart one who does unmentionable things to cold drinks while serving it to malkin and her saheli.

Adil Hussain can make you feel his presence even while playing a statue and he does a remarkable job as an arrogant playboy husband. Rasika Duggal does the role effectively of the frenemy in this one. After watching so many of those overhyped but totally low on content short films, Chutney just nails it all the way.

Watch this but just be warned! You may not be able to look at Pudina Chutney the same way for a long time.
