7 Best Performances Of Bollywood's 'Macho Man' Vinod Khanna

Veteran actor Vinod Khanna succumbed to cancer earlier this year. The loss is great for Indian cinema and has marked the end of era, as the original Macho Man of Bollywood departed. He had been hospitalized since 31^st of March and photo of him that went viral from the hospital where he was barely recognizable due to his deteriorating health, he was suffering from severe dehydration.  The picture had everyone really worried even though his son Akshaye Khanna reported that he was recovering but the sad news of his demise came as a shock to everyone.

He may not be amongst us anymore but we certainly have some great cinema to remember him by. Take a look at some of his most memorable roles in Bollywood –

Mere Apne – A gem of a movie in his filmography, the film was Gulzar’s directorial debut and the actor’s performance stood out in the multi starrer film and is certainly one of the classic in Bollywood.

Muqaddar Ka Sikander – Even though in a supporting role the actor displayed his acting prowess and remains of the best film of all times. The besides the film proved that partnership of Amitabh Bachchan and Vinod Khanna was golden.

Amar, Akbar, Anthony -  It is certainly one of the best comedy films of all time and would have been incomplete without either of the three actors, Amitabh Bachchan, Rishi Kapoor or Vinod Khanna. The lost and found story was a 1977 blockbuster.

Qurbani – This story of thick friendship and sacrifice was one of Vinod Khanna’s best works and he even got nominated for the Filmfare Award for the best actor. It was a blockbuster and remained of one the biggest films for quite some time.

Hera Pheri –Another revenge drama starring Amitabh Bachchan and Vinod Khanna in the lead, that went on be one of his best performances. Two friends turning enemies due to scared family history had Vinod Khanna standing out with his performance.

Achanak – One of the most powerful performances by the actor, where he plays an army man who murders his wife and best friend after he discovers that the two were in a relationship behind his back. The film portrays some strong emotional turmoil that the actor pulled off skillfully.

Mera Gaon Mera Desh – The actor had started out as villain in Bollywood and he nailed it with this one, where he played a dacoit. He was so powerfully terrorizing that we loved his conviction in making us hate him so much in the role.
