Weekend Box Office Report: While Arjun Kapoor's Half Girlfriend Had A Good Run, Irrfan Khan's Hindi Medium Slogged!

After a great opening at the ticket windows on Friday, Arjun Kapoor-Shraddha Kapoor-starrer Half Girlfriend had a good weekend collection of Rs 32.04 crore, while Saket Choudhary’s Hindi Medium earned Rs 12.56 crore in three days of the release on Friday.

Mohit Suri’s Half Girlfriend had an impressive opening with Rs 10.27 crore collection and maintained the success ride collecting Rs 10.63 crore on Saturday and Rs 11.14 crore on Sunday.

The Irrfan Khan-starrer had a slow start with an opening collection of Rs 2.81 crore. The collections jumped to Rs 4.25 crore on Saturday and further rose on Sunday to Rs 5.50 crore.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, ”#HalfGirlfriend has a GOOD weekend... Fri 10.27 cr, Sat 10.63 cr, Sun 11.14 cr. Total: ₹ 32.04 cr. India biz. #HindiMedium goes from strength to strength with each passing day... Fri 2.81 cr, Sat 4.25 cr, Sun 5.50 cr. Total: ₹ 12.56 cr. India biz.”

While Hindi Medium was made on an estimated cost of Rs 22 crore, Half Girlfriend had an estimated budget of Rs 35 crore.

Starring Arjun Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor in lead roles, Half Girlfriend is an onscreen adaptation of Chetan Bhagat’s bestseller by the same name.

Hindi Medium, on the other hand, showcases the class struggles of a Hindi-speaking man struggling to find an English medium school for his daughter. It stars Irrfan Khan and Pakistani actor Saba Qamar in lead roles
