The Time Rosie Met Rosie: Anushka Sharma Interviews Waheeda Rehman

Anushka Sharma promoted Bombay Velvet in her own unique style by interviewing the original Rosie from CID, Waheeda Rehman.

In a very candid interview with Anushka, the veteran actress unveiled the good old days of Bombay (now Mumbai) from the early 50s.

From rich parsi women wearing fur coats on Marine Drive in Bombay winters, to amusing logic behind censoring scenes, and inequality of wages among actors, Waheeda opened just another important chapter from the archives of Indian filmmaking.

    Censorship in Waheeda Rehman's era

Fact: The original fifi song from Waheeda Rehman's movie CID was censored and eventually removed from the movie, not due to the bizarre word fifi, but because of the first few line... 'jaata kahan hain deewane, sab kuch yahan hai sanam'  which the censor board found double meaning!

Rehman also shared that even ace filmmakers like Guru Dutt faced problems with censorship on the most natural looking scenes from Sahib Biwi Aur Gulam!
