    It was a matter of great disappointment when this year’s Academy Award’s committee published the list of films nominated for the Best Foreign Language Film category this year and Gully Boy was not a part of it. The Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt starrer failed to make it to the list and fans back home were convinced that this marks the end of India’s Oscar journey this year.

    However, as it turns out, that is not the case. Even though Gully Boy has not made it to the Best Foreign Language Film nominations it is still a part of the 344 list which are being still in consideration for the Best Picture nomination. According to the rules of the committee, films that open in a commercial theatre in the Los Angeles County before December 31st, runs for more than 7 days and has a duration of more than 40 minutes are eligible and since Gully Boy fulfils all the requirements, it is on the list. While the chances of winning are very slim, it still means that technically is not out of the Oscars race yet!

    In fact, Gully Boy isn’t the only familiar name from Bollywood on the list. Priyanka Chopra starrer Isn’t It Romantic? also features on the same list. It remains to be seen amidst all the fabulous films that came out this year, who gets to take the black lady home this year.
