As a die-hard Bollywood fan one might not want to accept it, but the truth last year was one of the worst years for Bollywood both in terms of content and box-office. Discussions were on about the content crisis and the rapidly deteriorating footfalls in theatres. Come 2018, and Bollywood has almost got a new lease of life. It has not only compensated for last year but has given us so much more.

From massive magnum opus to moving biopics, from patriotism to horror comedy and from romance to bromance, 2018 has been one of the best years for Bollywood in a long time, both in terms of content and box-office. And probably this is the reason that some films even in their fourth week have pulled audiences to the theatres. Here are the top 5 films which pulled audiences to theatres even a month after their release and registered surprising 4th-week collection.

Padmaavat

The first big release of 2018 could not get any bigger than Padmaavat. After controversies that made national headlines almost every day, the film won over the box-office from the first day itself. It took a record time to reach the magic number of 100 crores and eased into the 300 crore bracket smoothly. The success of the Deepika, Ranveer, and Shahid starrer can be gauged from the fact that the film collected about 14. 17 crores at the box-office on its fourth weekend which would be considered a bumper opening week figure for most films.

Sanju

The story of Bollywood’s most controversial superstar being told by India’s most loved director, featuring of Bollywood’s most trusted and loved superstar- there was hardly anything that could go wrong with Sanju. The Ranbir Kapoor starrer took just its first weekend to reach the magic number of 100 crores and Rajkumar Hirani proved why he is Bollywood’s most successful director when Sanju registered a collection of 10.48 crores on its fourth week and the run continued until the film entered the 300 crore club in the domestic market.

Stree

This was one surprise that no one saw coming. Rajkummar Rao, although one of the most talented actors in Bollywood right now, is hardly a 100 crore material, Shradhha Kapoor isn’t a massive crowd puller either and a tricky genre like horror comedy had no record of striking gold at the box-office. But the miracle happened and on a most unexpected Stree became a massive hit. The contribution of the film’s fourth week to its amazing total collection was a staggering 9.95 crores which was the number predicted by many film pundits to be Stree’s opening week collection.

Sonu Ke Titu Ke Sweety

Another surprising entry on the block was Sonu Ke Titu Ke Sweety. With no big actors, big banner and a somewhat successful franchise Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety becoming a superhit was perhaps a distant dream for the cast and crew of the film. But yet again, cine-goers surprised us and the film went on to mint 8.88 crores on its fourth weekend.

Raazi

It is always special when a women-centric film made by a superbly talented woman director does well at the box-office, but Raazi gave us so much more. What could have been a niche film went on to be a mega-hit. Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal’s top-notch performance and Meghna Gulzar’s brilliant story-telling not only brought people to the theatre in bulk but the frenzy kept continuing and the fourth week of the film contributed a healthy 7.95 crores to its total collection.
