Salman Khan Sets Records As Tiger Zinda Hai Gears Up For BIGGEST Weekend Ever Scored By A Bollywood Release
Records have begun to accumulate for Tiger Zinda Hai. The film has taken one of the biggest opening ever and has found a place amongst the Top-10 already. There are 10 films (counting only the Hindi versions) till date which have brought 30 crore or more on their opening day and Tiger Zinda Hai now finds itself right up there in the charts.
Here is the list:
Happy New Year - 42.60 crore
Baahubali 2 [Hindi] - 41 crore
Prem Ratan Dhan Payo - 40.35 crore
Sultan - 36.54 crore
Dhoom : 3 - 34.50 crore
Tiger Zinda Hai - 33.75 crore
Chennai Express - 33.10 crore
Ek Tha Tiger - 33 crore
Singham Returns - 32 crore
Golmaal Again - 30.14 crore
As can be seen, Salman Khan's Tiger Zinda Hai is already doing great guns and that too when it released on a working day. Despite the fact that 22nd December was not an Eid or a Diwali holiday (and even Christmas falls only on Monday), the film has taken a fantastic start which is the best ever for a regular Friday release. The sequel has done much better than Ek Tha Tiger and is also set for a much bigger lifetime haul.
Interestingly, Salman Khan has as many as four films in the Top-10 list - Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, Sultan, Tiger Zinda Hai and Ek Tha Tiger.
Of course there is also all-around Khan domination with seven of the Top-10 films shared between Salman Khan [4], Shah Rukh Khan [2] and Aamir Khan [1]. After that there is Ajay Devgn with two of his films in the list while one of the big ones [Baahubali 2] can well be credited to the director [SS Rajamouli].
Coming back to the opening of Tiger Zinda Hai, the film has released on a record count of screens [4600] which means the potential is there for around 45 crore to come on a daily basis. Hence, one of the biggest achievements for the Ali Abbas Zafar directed film would be to hit the 40 crore milestone next. Though that would be quite tough since the film has a four day long weekend due to which audience footfalls would be divided between these days, the fact also remains that overall there is a huge haul waiting to be captured in the first three days.
Let's take a look at the numbers that have been scored by films in their first three days:
Baahubali 2 [Hindi] - 128 crore
Sultan - 105.53 crore
Dangal - 105.01 crore
Happy New Year - 104 crore
Bajrangi Bhaijaan - 102.60 crore
If one goes by the trends so far, Tiger Zinda Hai is now set to find itself at the second spot for sure while going past Sultan, hence leading from the front when it comes to a Bollywood release setting the record for the biggest weekend opener ever.
This one is a BLOCKBUSTER in the making.
