5 Bollywood Actors Who Set Records In Their Careers In The First Half Of 2019

Remember our excitement when 2018 gave us back to back to films that not only impressed us but also set the cash registers ringing? While all of us were elated, one could not help but wonder if it was all a fluke. It took us till the first half of 2019 to be re-assured that 2018 was not a fluke and Bollywood is indeed stepping up the game.

Apart from giving delighting us with films like Uri: The Surgical Strike and Gully Boy, the first half of 2019 also turned out to be career defining for some Bollywood actors. They not only delivered hit films and top-notch performances but also set records when it comes to their respective career. Here are the ones we are talking about.

Vicky Kaushal

Vicky Kaushal announced his arrival loud and clear in Bollywood and into our hearts with Sanju in 2018. While we were all hoping for good things from him in 2019, none of us were ready for the explosion that was Uri: The Surgical Strike. Vicky’s stellar performance and Aditya Dhar’s expert filmmaking not only made this the highest grosser of Vicky’s career but also the tenth all time highest grosser of Bollywood with a whopping Rs. 244 crores domestic collection for a film made on a budget of 45 crores.

Shahid Kapoor

Shahid Kapoor’s career trajectory in Bollywood has been as interesting as his film choices. Last year, Shahid gave his first Rs. 300 crores with Padmaavat but followed it up with a terrible Batti Gul Meter Chalu. However, 2019 has been kind to the actor so far, in fact, it has been the kindest in a long time. Shahid Kapoor’s Kabir Singh opened at a phenomenal Rs.20.21 crores and has already made above Rs. 180 crores after its second weekend at the box-office. With this, Shahid has gave his career’s biggest solo hit with Kabir Singh.

Salman Khan

Just when you thought that Salman Khan has set and broken every box-office record, he reminds you why he is the Salman Khan. With Bharat, Salman Khan registered the biggest opening day collection of his entire career. The Ali Abbas Zafar directorial released on June 5^th and raked in Rs. 41.50 crores which is now a record in itself.

Ajay Devgn

When it comes to setting or smashing box-office records, Ajay Devgn belongs to a class of his own. Even last year he managed to be in the 100 crore club with Raid and in the first half of 2019 Total Dhamaal became the biggest non-holiday opener for him. The film was released on 22^nd February and collected Rs.16.50 crores on its opening day.

Kartik Aaryan

Ever since Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety last year, Kartik Aaryan has been the hottest property in BTown. This year Kartik’s next film after Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety, Luka Chuppi, released on March 1^st and registered an opening day collection of Rs. 8.01 crores which is the career highest for Kartik Aaryan. Just to put things into perspective, Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety managed to rake in Rs. 6.42 crores on its opening day.
