Akshay Kumar’s Mission Mangal Is His 12th Century, Set To Go Past Kesari And Challenge 2.0

Akshay Kumar has done it. His Mission Mangal has entered the 100 Crore Club in a matter of just five days. A huge success already, it is now just a matter of time before it moves on from its superhit status to that of a blockbuster. In fact, that film has already left behind the lifetime numbers of some of the biggest Akshay Kumar grossers and is now playing amidst the big league.

Akshay Kumar’s Mission Mangal Is His 12th Century, Set To Go Past Kesari And Challenge 2.0

The film has emerged as the 12th century for Akshay Kumar and would soon be going past some of his biggest grossers during next few days itself. While Kesari would be left behind in quick time, what would be really interesting is the challenge that the Jagan Shakti directed affair gives to Shankar’s sci-fi affair 2.0 [Hindi].

Mission Mangal - 106.47 crores (and counting)

    2.0 [Hindi] - 189 crores

    Kesari - 154.42 crores

Toilet - Ek Prem Katha - 134.25 crores

    Rowdy Rathore - 133 crores

    Airlift - 129 crores

    Rustom - 128 crores

    Jolly LLB 2 - 117 crores

    Housefull 2 - 116 crores

    Holiday - 113 crores

    Housefull 3 - 109 crores

    Gold - 105 crores

There is another major feat that Mission Mangal has accomplished. The film is now Akshay Kumar’s fourth straight film to enter the 100 Crore Club. Starting with Gold and 2.0 [Hindi] last year, the good run has well continued with Kesari and Mission Mangal this year.

There is more. If not for PadMan being an aberration which scored in its 80s and couldn’t really hit the 100 crores mark (though it got quite some appreciation for itself), Akshay Kumar could well have enjoyed 9 centuries in a row. Starting with Airlift, he scored centuries with Housefull 3, Rustom, Jolly LLB 2 and Toilet - Ek Prem Katha. Then came PadMan but then post that there have been four more centuries now.

His next two biggies before the close of year are Housefull 4 and PadMan and that would only continue the unimaginable run that Akshay Kumar has been enjoying for last so many years now.

No wonder, he stays on to be the superstar for masses as well as classes.
