After a stellar 2018, it is finally time for the first major release of the year. On 11^th January, 2019, Uri: The Surgical Strike is set to hit the theatres and set the ball rolling for Bollywood this year. Directed by debutante Aditya Dhar, Uri is the story of the surgical attack that India carried out as a response to Pakistani skirmishes that killed a few Indian soldiers.

Starring Vicky Kaushal, Yami Gautam, and Mohit Raina in the lead, Uri has totally pumped us up to witness the amazing tale of bravery, courage, and patriotism on screen. Here are a few reasons why we are super excited to watch Uri: The Surgical Strike this weekend.

After being the toast of the season in 2018, this will be Vicky Kaushal’s first box-office adventure after becoming a bankable star. Even though his performance was greatly praised in Raazi and Sanju, the films relied more heavily on Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor respectively, thus this film is the one which is going to test Vicky’s appeal. Yami Gautam has always played the sweet girlfriend or wife who rarely makes it alive to the end of the fil. However, from the trailer it is evident that in Uri she is playing a tough woman in uniform. It would be super exciting to see Yami in this never-seen-before avatar kicking some serious ass.

Mohit Raina’s Screen Debut

TV heartthrob Mohit Raina who we could not get enough of in Mahadev is finally making his long-awaited screen debut with Uri. He will be seen playing an important character in the film. We all know he is one heck of a looker and a pretty competent actor on television, thus we are all waiting with bated breath for his big screen debut.

High Octane Action

Vicky Kaushal has claimed that this is the most physically challenging experience he has ever had. Apart from the grueling defence training that the actors have undergone the film has been shot in Siberia which posed its own set of challenges. Even the trailer looked super pumped up and thus we are expecting to see some hardcore warfare action in the film.

Uri attack and the surgical strike that India responded with has been an important landmark event in the modern history of the country.
