First, it was just Aamir Khan 's Thugs of Hindostan that was slated for Diwali release. Then came the news that Ajay Devgn is planning is Total Dhamaal too for the same slot. Now comes an official announcement around the release of Rana Daggubati's Haathi Mere Saathi which has made Diwali 2018 hotter than ever before.

A trilingual, Haathi Mere Saathi would be yet another Rana Daggubati starrer after The Ghazi Attack which would be arriving in Hindi, Telugu and Tamil simultaneously. While that film was still set on a relatively smaller scale and still managed to do well in all languages, Haathi Mere Saathi is being set on a 'mammoth' scale. Pun truly intended!

This makes Diwali 2018 something to look out for since Aamir Khan and Ajay Devgn are already in the battlefield with their Thugs of Hindostan and Total Dhamaal set to lock horns. Though Indra Kumar is yet to formally announce the date of third in the franchise of Dhamaal, the fact that Ajay Devgn pretty much ruled this Diwali with his comic entertainer Golmaal Again going past the 200 crore mark could well make this announcement a mere formality.

Thugs of Hindostan has a lot going in its favor too since there are Amitabh Bachchan and Katrina Kaif joining Aamir in the cast. On the other hand, Total Dhamaal is said to be rolling out the red carpet for new entrants Anil Kapoor and Madhuri Dixit who would be joining the usual suspects, Riteish Deshmukh , Arshad Warsi and Javed Jaffrey. All of that indeed makes Total Dhamaal a complete package affair.

There is a huge package awaited in the form of Haathi Mere Saathi as well which is yet another franchise in the making by Eros International's franchise feature studio, Trinity Pictures. The film goes on floors this January and would be directed by acclaimed director Prabhu Solomon. The very genre of the film warrants this to be a big screen affair with VFX galore, something that Thugs of Hindostan would be high on as well due to its period setting.

So far it has been seen that two movies releasing on Diwali are a norm. Invariably, both have entered the 100 crore club as well, as has been evidenced on multiple instances. Now with as many as three films expected to take on each other on Diwali, one waits to see how big do they all turn out to be.

Rest assured, with Rana Daggubati gearing up in a new avatar altogether and riding high on the popularity of Baahubali series, Diwali 2018 would indeed be something to look out for with Thugs of Hindostan and Total Dhamaal in the ring as well.
