Come Thursday and it could well be the start of many records that are set to tumble at the Box Office. 2.0 is hitting the screens in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu and while the combined collections across these languages would be record breaking for sure, one particularly waits to see how does the Hindi version fare eventually.

Back in 2010 when Rajinikanth's Robot had released, it had collected 20 crore in the Hindi version. Though it was not a major version, the small release coupled with the fact that this was still the biggest grosser amongst regional films released in Hindi was a reason good enough to rejoice. The film went on to do Blockbuster business in Tamil with collections to the tune of 150 crore (it used to be a huge amount back then) but then the success in Hindi, even though limited, meant that there was a sequel that could be made bigger and better.

This is where director Shankar came up with a masterstroke. He knew that in order to make the sequel a pan-India blockbuster, it was rudimentary to get a superstar from Bollywood to act along. Moreover, the role couldn't be next only to Rajinikanth; it had to be that of a parallel lead. That's not all as it was also decided that the character in there couldn't be an out and out villain; there had to be an anti-hero element to it so that audiences could see their 'hero' turn into a 'villain' for a reason.

In came Akshay Kumar and results are there to be seen, what with the superstar's towering presence ensuring that 2.0 is getting just the right kind of mileage that it deserves. Just like Baahubali - The Conclusion that saw a massive release in Hindi despite being a dubbed version and a hero from down South [Prabhas], even 2.0 is aiming to arrive in around 4000 screens for the Hindi version. This, when the film has the 'hero' Rajinikanth mouthing dialogues in Tamil and hence catering primarily to his massive fan base.

It is going to be a different scenario though in the Hindi version where Akshay would of course be speaking in Hindi while Rajinikanth would return to dub for his lines. Nonetheless, the film is arriving huge and that is making sure that even if one counts just the Hindi version release, at least 25 crore is set to come at the Box Office. Now that would be huge since in one clean stroke, the sci-fi action affair would be pretty much wiping off the lifetime record of Robot [20 crore] in a matter of just one day.

The real competition though would be with Baahubali - The Conclusion. While across all languages there would be a fight that 2.0 would put up for sure, one waits to see how close does 2.0 arrive to the Hindi version of the SS Rajamouli directed film which had amassed a phenomenal 41 crore on its opening day. While that number stays on to be truly extraordinary, it would be 2018 releases like Sanju [34.74 crore], Race 3 [29.17 crore], Gold [25.25 crore] and Baaghi 2 [25.10 crore] that 2.0 would be competing with.

Agreed that Thugs of Hindostan [50.75 crore] would be pretty much out of reach for the Hindi version. However as long as 2.0 manages to battle it out with the other biggies and gives them a challenge of sorts, we are in for a massive Box Office winner for sure.
